I went to this library yesterday. My doctor had given me a CD he wanted me to watch. Jorge - an employee, told me that the staff were being instructed to refer patrons to the Digital Navigators whom he said would be available next Tuesday the 6th of February. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I couldn't wait a week to get help. I told him I would go to the Jefferson County Public Library in Belmar. I drove the short distance there - and within 15 minutes of walking in the front door of that library - a staff person had me sitting in front of a computer with a portable DVD player watching my doctors medical information on a computer screen. I am not sure what has changed at this little library but some of the staff are not even trying to help patrons. Jorge also told me last week it was illegal to leave a dog unattended in a car in colorado. I have lived here 30 years and have never heard that. I have Paralegal training and have learned to not trust just anybody with information regarding the laws in Colorado. I called and talked to an Animal Control Officer who works for the city of Denver. That officer told me that information he gave me was not accurate. She referenced the local law -and I was able to look it up and read it for myself. Jorge was wrong. I tend to trust people who work at the libraries more than random people - not anymore. My favorite library employee took a position at a different library - maybe that is why I am experiencing poor customer service lately. I don't understand where they thought ordering sex and the occult based genres was what everyone wanted to read. Not only that I am sick of that security guard. He is rude and nasty towards everyone and most of the staff openly and loudly gossip about everyone which is a major no no. The worst library I have been to. Jorge Bowden at Barnum Library was extremely helpful, very informative, friendly, and courteous. I needed help finding some books and his assistance was very helpful.
