ListenUp® — Attraction in Denver

I have lived up the street from ListenUp's Wash Park location for nearly 10 years and was excited to do business with them. I am purchasing a new home within the neighborhood which has a theater in need of updates so I walked in the door to discuss the project. I spent 30 minutes talking through what I was hoping to accomplish, laid out a budget of $15,000, and then spent 15 minutes in the demo room so I understood what to expect. The salesperson effectively sold me on a Sony projector (which wasn't cheap) so I went home and did my research to discover it was on sale. I indicated that I was ready to pull the trigger immediately so I didn't miss out on $1,000 in savings... crickets.... giving the benefit of the doubt, I called in a week later and the sales rep actually had some answers and we scheduled to visit the home to confirm a few items and come up with a proposal. The rep showed up for the meeting and we came up with some next steps, agreed the previously identified projector was right for the project, and I was told I would receive a proposal....

Anyhow, since then the proposal never arrived, the projector went off sale so I lose the opportunity to save a significant amount of money, and I'll just have to assume ListenUp doesn't want my business.

Fortunately, the projector went back on sale, and while I was excited to shop local, my money went to Amazon yet again.

3-stars because I was at least able to receive an hour or two of...

I honestly didn't know what to expect when I walked into this store. I was simply trying to compare different tower speakers for a new home setup. Initially, I hoped to hear the SVS Titans compared to similar towers, but WOW! The selection of different speakers they have on display, with virtually every possible amp/AVR combination to really hear the differences, is truly an incredible experience. From multi-channel home theater systems to stunning two-channel setups, I was blown away by hearing the differences between all the different speakers, types, and amplification throughout all their demo rooms. It's pretty shocking to hear what real high-end speakers can do (Focal Diva Utopia, Maestro Utopia Evo, and some Sonus Faber Olympica), and I'm thankful to Jared for showing me those systems (even if I can't afford them, haha).

Jared Dunlap is an exceptional person and resource at ListenUp to explore all the different speaker systems and setups and what would work best for your use cases. He's incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and great at explaining the different systems and their nuances to help you pick the best speakers for your setup. I highly recommend you ask for Jared if you're at this store to explore their systems and figure out a system that works best for you.

After this visit, Jared helped me work through exactly what I want for my home system, and I can't wait to get everything ordered and set...

What does this have to do with ListenUp? This was ListenUp's gig to lose, and they very much lost it. I visited the Wash Park location in person two months ago to talk about updating the system they'd installed for me several years ago. I met with a consultant right away; he sketched out a solution and asked for the model numbers of my TVs so he could check compatibility. I got him that info about 2 days later and heard nothing back. I followed up by phone and email, then after a month of silence, started looking for somebody else. Exactly how hard am I supposed to work to move money from my pocket to theirs?

I called again this morning in preparation for writing this review to be sure I wasn't being unfair, that there hadn't been a family emergency or anything. The same fellow answered and goes, Oh yeah, here are your emails, sorry we overlooked those, how can we make it right?

How can you make what right? Losing a would-be repeat customer for life? Mmm ... can't think of anything.

Once again, it was Press Play Integration who installed my lovely new audio...
