Mooi Studio — Attraction in Denver

I used Mooi for multiple services for my wedding, and of all my vendors, this is the only one leaving me with mixed feelings.

1. I received two spray tans from Mooi. I did a trial run a few weeks before my wedding. The trial ended up being pretty dark, so when I went back in for my actual spray tan I let them know and I was given instructions on how to adjust the timing of my shower and the color ended up perfect! I would definitely recommend a spray tan here, but would also recommend a trial run if you are doing it before a big event!

2. I used Mooi for my bridal/bridesmaid makeup. The communication with my makeup artist was very poor. My wedding was at the beginning of June, and at the beginning of April I sent my artist a timeline of my wedding day. I did not receive a response, but my makeup trial was shortly after and at the trial we also talked about the timeline of my wedding day. At the trial, I was told I would have a second makeup artist since my bridal party was rather large. About two weeks before the wedding day, I sent another message to confirm what time the team would actually be arriving, to which I did not receive a response. I then called the studio after a week with no response, and a team member reached out to my artist. At this point it's about a week before the actual day and my artist is telling me she doesn't have a second artist to help and is asking if we can adjust the timeline. This was INCREDIBLY stressful right before the wedding, especially since I had addressed the finalized timeline several times (some times without a response).

The actual makeup did turn out beautiful and my bridal party loved their looks! On the day of, the one artist was able to complete everything on time. However, I was not impressed with the lack of communication and the stress immediately before the wedding. I personally felt like all of this should have been addressed way sooner than a week prior. I also feel like if I hadn't reached out over and over, it wouldn't have been addressed at all. EDIT: You'll notice this is my only negative Google review of any business, so trust me when I say that there were no external factors contributing to my disappointment.

I submitted an inquiry form to MOOI studio asking for a quote for my wedding, specifically requesting information on potential payment plans. After several emails, it was very clear that there is no coordination happening between the employees as I was given conflicting information in addition to a very rude tone from their Special Event Coordinator. She accused me of not signing a contract or paying my deposit despite me never receiving the documents to do so or any confirmation of payment plans after I waited 2 weeks for a response regarding payment plans. It was not until after I expressed my dissatisfaction that I was made aware of the internal staffing transitions. They then mistook my discontent for anger, which I believe to be a reflection of lack of accountability in response to the lack of tact I was shone. Overall, I found this studio to be unprofessional in the preliminary stages, immediately deterring me from moving forward with them as a vendor. Extremely disappointed in my first (and last) sugaring and will definitely not return. I was seen by Tracy who I was told is their most experienced employee. It was twice as painful and twice as expensive than any wax experience I have had in the past.

To make matters worse, I followed all of her instructions including exfoliating and have so many painful ingrown hairs and it looks awful. Afraid of permanent scarring,i called and asked to speak to a manager to see if there was anything that could be done. The women who answered the phone were both rude and condescending, insisting I must not have followed instructions (which I absolutely did) making excuses that it must have been something I did instead of showing empathy and being kind. They said I could come back in for a quick chemical peel that might help. That was also the most awkward experience and I 100% did not enjoy the vibe in the salon either time, very superficial and catty.
