I got towed within a couple minutes. A large sprinter van was blocking the sign so I didn't even know I was in customer only parking. The funny thing is, I was considering getting some food, but the place looked closed. So I went next door and got a bagel.
It's just a little over the top to tow someone who only needed the spot for 5 minutes and there was no one else in the parking lot except the van that was blocking the sign.
Personally I hate when people leave reviews like this that have nothing to do with the food. But this towing behavior needs to be checked. Costing people hundreds of dollars over a simple mistake, especially when I wasn't stopping potential customers from parking, is not a cool move. Have some kindness and grace buddy.
Edit:
Your situation does seem very frustrating. The bagel shop should be paying for some of the parking lot since I'm sure their customers use it all the time. I am sorry you have to deal with that. If I knew all this ahead of time I would never have parked there. But I did not know, nor did I see your parking sign.
My review is on how you take your personal dispute out on random people. You were so fast at towing me, my car would have been gone before I got my food. Luckily someone was kind enough to peek in the shop and let me know what was happening. I cannot imagine if my car was actually completely gone. I would have missed my second half of work, and spend $300 to get my car back. I'm happy that I'm semi financially stable now. If this was the younger me who had just started trying to get by and only had a couple dollars to my name, you would have put me back for months.
This review is to let you know, your bitterness about a bagel shop ruined my day, and is potentially putting people in debt.
You can go on about your 24/7 policy and how it's your right to tow, but you are only...
Read moreThis place is kinda dirty and the owner seems a little unhinged and angry. The younger employees here are really nice. I wouldn’t recommend this place as a convenience store. They’re not good at keeping their lotto scratchers stocked. The store is frequently closed when their hours show open.
I’m a cyclist and stopped here a few times when biking through the area. I don’t use the parking lot and locked up my bike elsewhere on this block. They have replied accusing me of using their parking lot to buy bagels and I have no clue what they’re going on about. I keep getting emails that the owner has replied obsessed with this bagel person, calling me names and being derogatory- so I’m editing to add go ahead it ain’t me. This review is about my experience at Conu’s, not a neighboring business. On three occasions in the past year the store was closed when this listing said it would be open. I know I’m not the only one that has experienced this because the google listing states hours may be incorrect. This business is far from perfect 5 star reviews and feedback could help your bottom line improve. Please stop replying with blind anger, I’m not your bagel person, and I have receipts and credit card statements with purchase history from Conu’s (I posted one so you can stop calling me a liar unless you like lawsuits🩵).
I think the business owner should be careful about slander and the public accusations they make about customers online, and they should use caution when antagonizing mentally unwell and dangerous individuals in this area like in the video they posted today. People are dangerous out here and the safety of the families working at this store matters more than public shaming a...
Read more⚠️ WARNING: Avoid This Business at All Costs – Predatory Towing Scam ⚠️ (Read other reviews!)
If you’re thinking about stopping here, DO NOT—unless you want to risk being booted or towed within minutes, even if you're a paying customer or supporting another nearby business. This place has earned a reputation in the neighborhood for operating what many have called a predatory towing and booting scheme, not a restaurant.
Here’s what you need to know:
People are being booted in 3–5 minutes, sometimes while the business is closed, making it impossible to even be a customer.
There are reports of rude staff, hostile responses to complaints, and even expired products being sold.
The owner responds to valid concerns with sarcasm, deflection, or accusations, instead of any accountability.
A tow or boot will cost you $145–$160, regardless of whether you were there to support them or their neighboring businesses.
Multiple reviewers said they intended to eat here, had receipts, or were seconds away from becoming paying customers—but still got booted.
It’s not just the reviews—there’s a clear pattern. Many locals have shared the same experience. There are even claims that this business survives more on booting cars than selling food.
Bottom line: There are far better local places nearby that deserve your time and money. Don’t risk hundreds of dollars just trying to grab a coffee, bagel, or lunch. Steer clear of this place.
Let’s support businesses that treat customers like...
