i regularly go to Rise and Shine! This is one of my favorite places in Sloan's Lake. Unfortunately, they need to either supervise or retrain the cashier that was working on 8/4 that morning.
I always look forward to ordering a large Black & peppermint Iced tea along with my biscuit. First, she tried to serve me a HOT peppermint tea, I thought she was going to brew my ICED tea, so I told her don't forget the black tea bags along with the peppermint tea bags
She seemed very scattered brained and also failed to actually listen to my order multiple times as I reminded multiple times her that I wanted my drink ICED.
Then she tried to serve me the hot tea and I said I asked for the drink to be iced. Then she fills up a cold plastic cup of water and puts in the tea bags.
Now I know and I think everyone knows that's not how you make iced tea. I couldn't believe that she thought I would actually accept it this ridiculous version of iced tea. From my previous experiences at Rise N Shine, they always had their black and peppermint tea brewed and ready to serve.
. I had to firmly tell her like that's not how you make iced tea.. She said she just started and doesn't know her teas. I was frustrated and ready to leave, so I asked her for a cold brew. She offered to get me a cold brew with any of the syrups. So I asked for a vanilla and hazelnut, she also offered to take my drink off of my order, since it took so long. I politely asked if she could add some oatmilk to my cold brew when adding the syrups. Well she never did and we just left, since it was obviously very difficult for her to actually LISTEN to me and I was ready to go.
Again, I love this place, so I'm sad I had to write this review, I just wanted to let the owners know about this experience, so they can better train their cashiers and hire people who actually listen. All the other staff I've met have been sweet and great at their job, she definitely has a long way to go!
Please brew your black and peppermint iced tea...
Read moreAs a North Carolinian exploring Colorado, stumbling upon Rise & Shine was the most incredible surprise. We were so excited to see menu items named for NC cities when we walked in! The playlist at this location was great, and we had fun sitting at the window and watching the neighborhood activity, which thankfully included lots of adorable dogs! We did not bring ours, but there were dog biscuits inside for people who did. The food here is phenomenal! We recommend the Chapel Hill, a southern style chicken biscuit, and the cinnamon roll biscuit with cream cheese icing. Their lattes were creamy and delicious, too. We were in town for three days and we visited two days in a row, even grabbing a biscuit to eat on the plane back to NC! The staff here is incredible!! Each and every person was so kind and funny! I didn’t catch the first woman’s name who helped us, but she made the best latte of my trip and was sweet enough to ask about us and our families in the aftermath of Helene. Thankfully, we are all safe, and it was SO thoughtful of her to ask. Cassidy and Chris made our last Colorado meal so special, as well, gifting us a little sweet treat for...
Read moreIf you want a real damn good southern chicken biscuit (Chapel Hill on the menu), this is the place to go. While I do still enjoy some of the more "boutique" biscuit restaurants serving tall, stacked, perfectly instagramable biscuits, I strongly prefer the fact that I can actually HOLD and BITE my biscuit sandwich without it falling apart from the first bite to the last. And the simplicity is key, for me. If you have a great piece of fried chicken on a great biscuit, you don't need anything else, though I'm sure it would taste great with some bacon or jam on there, too. I did sub the buttermilk biscuit with the biscuit of the day (parmesan). Not to mention at around $6 a sandwich you'll be hard pressed to even get much of a better deal from fast food. So glad to have tried this place and couldn't stop smiling the whole time I was in there because it really did bring me back east, from the stellar food to the cheer wine. Will definitely have to return to try the plain buttermilk biscuit and the cinnamon roll biscuit and see the garden area...
