I don't get the negative reviews on this store.
First the non-sale prices are typical of smaller liquor stores in Denver, if not a little cheaper although not always. This isn't a big store that can discount based on volume. If you want cheap you'll need to leave the neighborhood, which cost you more in gas then you'll save unless you are buying for a party.
I have never had problem with the staff. A couple of them are very friendly and a couple of them will check you out and if you ask dumb questions you might get a terse response. If you act like you are more important than another customer you should just leave the store. But the couple of times I've had issues they've been very accommodating. It's a local place. With the "Beer of the Month" selection and the 10% off after 10 purchased this is the best local place around.
As for the selection: Better than most of the smaller liquor stores you'll find. Not as good as some. There are some Colorado breweries I like they don't carry, but then I haven't found those in stores of their size very often. I drink beer and they have porter and stouts. I have three liquor stores closer to me, both aren't cheaper and both don't have a porter or stout anywhere in the store. For my ability to buy a type of beer I want Morgan's come through more...
Read moreSketchy vibes. I’ve been going to this liquor store for about 6 months now and I usually don’t have to show ID (yes, I know. They know me by face at the liquor store. I know how that sounds lol). However, when I went there on Monday of this week, an employee who definitely knew me and who I would check out with all the times asked me to show ID. A bit odd, but I didn’t really care so I showed it.
Even though every other liquor store from here to California has had zero problem with my Colorado driver’s license, this employee scrutinized it because there was a small crack in the bottom which I fixed with tape. I showed my military ID instead and they said that one was fine, but even after they had verified my identity, the employee continued to read over both of my ID’s as if to memorize a number or something (she was also with a sketchy looking guy I hadn’t seen before who was also eyeing my ID’s).
I’m no stranger to identity theft and I definitely would not put it past certain employees who work here. I have been watching my bank accounts and such closely and nothing out of the ordinary has happened yet, but it’s best to err on the side of caution and avoid this place. Total Wine and Spirits is right down the road basically and they have better prices in the...
Read moreI've been coming to this spot for years. The owner sold a few months ago and for the most part, it's ok. The staff that has been retained from previously are still friendly and great, they are the only reason I come back. Unfortunately there was a disconnect with the new ownership. The other owners/employees/family(?) are not as friendly or hospitable. And things felt like the went up on price to reflect that. On top of that, if you start buying something consistently, expect the price to go up, even if you are the only person buying. And at times the newer employees or owner/operators don't realize when they are neglecting people up front because there's a big conference between them at the register. It's just a bit sad to come by now because even though you are giving your money to them so often, the owner/operators walk by you seemingly annoyed by your presence and the fact they have to stock. It's just a fact I've had to expect. Otherwise it's just so much better to go down the road to SOBOs-extremely hospitable, great selection, and...
