My 25 year old daughter introduced me to this nail salon. Her attention to details and an establishment’s cleanliness is very important. It’s also a big deal for me but she owns a cleaning business so she notices little things I may overlook. We both had the basic pedicure. The seats are comfortable with the massage option which is pretty much standard in nail salons these days. Sparks pedicure chairs are well kept and have been upgraded. The entire place is modern & updated which is another reason we like to go there. We actually drive 18 minutes & 8 miles to go to Sparks even though there are plenty of nail salons within 5 minutes of our house.
Okay, so pedicures were great & relaxing. The lady asked if I wanted my nails trimmed or filed - having the option was nice. They have a couple of televisions in the place so you can also splurge on HGTV while you’re there. The volume is down on the tvs but you can read the captions. They also had a nice selection of music playing which was well suited for the crowd of mostly ladies between the ages of 30-50.
After pedicures we both had our nails done. My daughter opted for shellac and I prefer regular polish. Shellac cures and dries faster than polish. Her nails came out great. Mine did too but with regular polish you get a base clear coat, two coats of color and then a clear coat. I dried my nails under the dryer for about 5-7 minutes while I waited for her nails to be done. Total was $126 and I tipped $25 so our total was $151.00.
After we left we went to the mall for a bit and then headed home for the evening. I was going out with friends so I jumped in the shower - this was about 2.5 hours after our nails were done. I got out of the shower and the loofah had destroyed my finger nails. I was pretty bummed because I didn’t have time to get them fixed before heading out for the night. So disclaimer: maybe ask to have nails dried slightly in between coats if you have something to do in the next few hours and have chosen regular polish. I don’t like shellac because it weakens my nails.
The silver lining: I went back to Sparks the next day and explained what happened and they repainted the nails that looked like loofah texture! They did not ask for any type of payment and didn’t make a big deal out of it which is the customer service I hope for! I did tip my lady $5.00 because I was pleased with the overall situation.
So we’ll keep coming back for our relaxing spa day and I’d recommend Sparks for anyone looking to get...
Read moreMy friend told me this was her favorite nail salon so I decided to check it out. I wanted a new full set and I asked to have my old set of nails removed by soaking them in acetone as opposed to having them taken off the quickest way possible. First, the lady asked me three times if I was sure that I wanted a full set, because she thought my nails looked okay still and she was pressing me to get a re-base (easier, quicker for her). After I told her no and that I wanted a brand new full-set she began giving me an attitude. She then began to cut through one of my nails .....completely disregarding my request so I asked her once again to bring a bowl so that I could soak them in acetone. She informed me that soaking my nails in acetone would take over 30 minutes and began arguing with me about how my nails would be equally damaged regardless if they were soaked off OR cut off. Me and my friend began laughing because we couldn't believe how rude she was being by ignoring my request and then arguing with me. The lady asked us what was so funny, rolled her eyes, poured some acetone into a bowl, shoved the drawer shut and then stormed off into the back of the salon where she began talking about us in her foreign language EXTREMELY loudly, practically yelling. Everyone in the salon turned to look at us and needless to say I will NOT ever be returning to this salon. My friend who was a loyal customer for FIVE years was astonished by this nail tech's poor customer service and informed me that she also would not be returning. With so many great salons around with nail techs who don't want to rush you out and who are willing to soak your nails in acetone even if it takes thirty minutes... I wouldn't waste another penny at this salon!!! Go to a quality nail salon with nail techs who are nice, respectful and realize that you are paying THEM to do YOUR nails so therefore, if you ask to have your nails soaked vs. ripped off there shouldn't be a problem, nor an...
Read moreI have been going to this salon every 2 weeks for the past 4 years. After the remodel and losing the best techs that worked there and the prices going up I was still loyal and loved going. However I will never be returning. One of the woman there proceeded to yell at me after I tried telling her my friend would like her acrylics soaked off not ripped off with nail clippers. She began to complain about how long it would take n if she wants them soaked off then she doesn't need to get a full set. She was so worried about how long it would take even though they didn't close for another 4 hours. She slammed the bowl of acetone down n it splashed everywhere, she pointed in my face then ran to the back n began shouting about me in her language. It was so rude and appalling I was in complete shock. None of the other employees stepped in to stop this woman that was clearly yelling and being obviously rude to me. A paying customer of 4 years. I've brought them a lot of business in the past even gifts on holidays. I unfortunately will never be returning and I hope whoever goes to get work done there doesn't go on a bad day because they didn't care about the other 3 customers in there hat were clearly...
