I had high hopes for the new center, and foolishly purchased a membership. It is way too expensive. This place may as well be the Y in the city.
The women's locker rooms are constantly disgusting. Large clumps of hair, used bandages, blood, and general dirt are everywhere. There are no changing spaces at all, and very small benches to set things on that accommodate maybe 3 people. You cannot set things on the floor since it is filthy and wet, so you cannot sit to change.
The indoor pool has been getting scummier and dirtier each time I go. My feet slide at times. At 7am, no one else there, I came out of the water with someone else's used bandage stuck to me. Another time, there was no lifeguard but no signs the pool was closed. We saw no rules that said don't swim, so we got in. We later got scolded. I guess we're supposed to keep track of the employees for them??
The outdoor pool often has adults with beer in koozies floating around even though alcohol, and drinks in general, are prohibited in the pool. The basketball hoops in the pool create a dangerous and unpleasant environment with wild competition. The lifeguards chew their nails, talk to their friends, and stare off into space. I watched a swimmer save a toddler who jumped in (parents were ignoring him), and the three lifeguards that night saw none of it. The people who work the concessions look, talk, and act like they hate their lives. They eat while working and set their half-chewed food on the counters.

Read moreA very nice facility, however with the amount of time and money spent on this project it is very disappointing compared to other recreational centers in central, PA. As a consistent lifter and amateur body builder, I am a fanatic for fitness centers. I was very disappointed with the lack of equipment and the size of the fitness center. They will be getting a cable rack soon however, the fitness center is still very small. They could not even add a hack squat, rig setups with pull up bars, oh yeah and they only have one flat bench (for a facility that cost millions of dollars), machine or sauna or other gym essentials when constructing this place. You telling me I got to spend $1125.00 a year to come here when this place is lacking substantially compared to other fitness centers? It’s ridiculous. The pool, gymnasium, and other parts of the project are very nice do not get me wrong. But as a serious lifter, I am seriously disappointed in the lack of equipment and size of the fitness center especially for over a thousand dollars per year. Hershey had the potential to build an incredible recreational center with an incredible fitness center that would put the other gyms to shame in central, PA. Please someone contact me so I can tell you what gym equipment you need to provider to make your fitness center remarkable! I would...
Read moreAs my brother’s sibling, I’m still in disbelief about what happened at this place. I wasn’t even directly involved, but watching how my brother and his friend were treated has left me angry and disappointed. They went there to enjoy a normal day like anyone else. There was no harm, no aggression, and no intention to make anyone uncomfortable. And yet, two days later, they received a trespass letter — after police had already confirmed no wrongdoing took place. What kind of message does that send? My brother didn’t even talk to the girl in question — she approached them first during her job, and any interaction after that was short, simple, and respectful. But instead of having a real conversation or trying to understand, the staff went straight to the worst-case reaction, as if they were dangerous. That’s not just overreaction — that’s bias. The fact that both my brother and his friend are young Nepali men makes this feel even more personal. When people like us get treated like threats over innocent misunderstandings, it doesn’t just hurt — it stays with us. It damages reputations, causes anxiety, and makes us afraid of being misunderstood again. This place needs to seriously rethink how they handle situations. No one deserves to be treated this way, especially when they did...
