I made reservations so I expected to be seated when I arrived; however I had to wait just like others without reservations. During this time I used the bathroom - there was so much urine on the floor that my feet stuck to the floor and the toilet was visibly dirty and the auto flush did not work as evidenced by yellow water in the toilet. Then when finally seated, I asked for a booth as I could see several that were open. The girl just walked away from me as I was trying to nicely express my concerns about the previous issues. I was like what the heck - just walk away and expect me to chase you to tell you something! I am a 64 year old man and was nicely dressed. There was no respect whatsoever. Now - this is a place where the dishes go for 50-100 dollars, so I really don’t think to be seated when you walk in with reservations, to have clean restrooms, and to be able to sit in a booth is too much to ask! End of day - I spoke to the manager and she said she understood, but no concessions were made of any kind. Now - the goal was definitely NOT to obtain concessions but some sort of offer to improve a customer’s first impressions would have been nice. Long story short - food was decent, but should be for over 200 dollars for two people and otherwise I just will say that I definitely will not go back.
*Response to your quick response: thank you for the fast response and detail regarding how long my wait was and that I failed to specifically request a booth - your response is true however you failed to address the fact of the mess in the bathroom and that the hostess was so disrespectful that she just walked away from me as I was trying to speak to her. This leads me to believe that at least those contentions were deemed to be valid. Nonetheless - it was the culmination of multiple issues upon my first experience there. Additionally - yessss you are right - you saw us smiling with Jill - well, it would be TOTALLY inappropriate for me to displace frustration and or dissatisfaction with someone who had absolutely nothing to do with causing it and after expressing my concerns I had no desire to ruin the entire night for my wife - especially when there are a limited number of decent restaurants nearby that would be open and she was hungry so we made the best of it and I put on my happy face for her.
But Hey - you have a busy place there - I know things can’t always be perfect but I’m just thinking for future that hotel Hershey really isn’t much more expensive so I would definitely select them next time as I believe that their clientele generally expects the same level of service and respect that I do.
But again, Ty for your...
Read moreOn Saturday, July 6th we had reservations for my dad's birthday. We were seated outside which was exactly what we wanted. We ordered drinks and appetizers. Some time after the drinks and appetizers arrived, we wanted to order another drink. However, our waitress never came back out to check if everything was good with the appetizers or if we wanted more drinks. My mom had to go inside and order another beer from the bar. For our meal, my mom and I ordered the blackened chicken to share. They brought it out on two plates which was great. The chicken was flavorless, dry and not hot. It took quite a long time for our food to arrive so, it seemed like our chicken may have been sitting under a heat lamp. The chicken also came with pasta that looked extremely dry without even tasting it. We tasted the pasta it was super dry. Our waitress (Erin H. according to our check) came back out to ask how our food was and I let her know our chicken and pasta were terrible. She asked if we wanted a new meal and we responded and said no. Then, she asked us if we wanted her to get the manager. We responded no and she asked what we wanted. I responded and let her know | was just answering her question. Then, she became super defensive, for no reason, and proceeded to tell us she didn't make the food. We obviously knew that and did not accuse her of anything. She left and got the manager (not sure of her name, woman with brown hair). The manager came out and asked what was wrong with the food. We told her the same thing we told our waitress. She apologized and said she would talk to the chef and take our meal off our tab. The manager went back inside to adjust our tab and bring us our check. The manager left the check on our table while my dad was still eating. That is unprofessional. I asked the manager when she came back to pick up our check if our waitress was not waiting on us anymore. The manager answered and said no she would no be anymore because they were busy inside. Fast forward a couple minutes, we get up to leave and walk inside and the restaurant is pretty empty. Obviously, the manager was covering for her rude employee. Our waitress walked past as we left and would not even make eye contact with us. Your "waitress" needs some customer service training. We will not be returning to this establishment. Very poor management and customer service. Management should not tolerate poor customer service, but it is clear Devon's...
Read moreI am incredibly shocked by yesterday's behavior of the restaurant manager and how my friend was treated on her birthday. We came from New York for her birthday weekend. We had a birthday dinner booked in what seemed a lovely place - unfortunately due to the unprofessional service and communication we were send back with the smile on the manager's face. A friend of mine made reservations for 6:30 pm on Sunday. However, we decided to try to postpone the booking to 8:30 pm as we wanted to have fun at the Hershey Park. Called the restaurant to ask if it was possible. Of course, the possibility of change was confirmed and we were invited to 8:30 pm - as it turned out later, we were not informed that the restaurant were closing at this time. After reaching the destination, we tried to get inside - effectively ignored by the staff. This is nothing compared to what happened to us inside. After a 15 or so minutes, we were let in just to find out that we would not be served. The manager, not showing a bit of understanding and good will, defeated us, insolently saying that she must take care of her staff and my friend's birthday did not impress her because, according to her, every restaurant guest has just a birthday. Apart from her insolence and lack of competence, I am shocked and disgusted with the fact that she did not want to help her and no other solution offered to us. We are tourists, unfamiliar with the area, with 3 children, hungry, so it's great if the manager of such a place wanted to help us. They ruined my friend's birthday. I have a sweet business myself - and I cannot imagine such rude and pretentious treatment of a client. It is the service industry that we are for the client, not the client for us, we should care about the client's satisfaction and this is clearly not there. The basic error of this situation was at the beginning of communication - when changing the time of booking, someone should inform us that it is already the closing time of the restaurant. We feel very cheated by Devon employees. After all resignation we went to the restaurant across and the staff, seeing our resignation and the sadness caused by the situation in Devon, arranged a table for us and did everything to save my friend's birthday. Completely unexpected, they made the evening nice. This is an example of...
