I don't even know where to start. One thing about me I may tell a joke or two but never a lie. Upon first entrance THE SMELL and not in a good way. I understand this is Rodeway and motel so im not expecting no 5 star experience but c'mon at least have a base level of cleanliness. The carpets for one are old and musty and most likely attribute to the overall smell of the unit but for that either remove them and have hardwood floors so there are more easy to clean or invest in cleaning and shampooing on a regular basis since the room open into the outside. Second I recently stayed there 2 days ago so this review is very much fresh and up to date. I stayed in room 224 and this had to be one of the worst hotels stays in long time. I usually stay away from Rodeway in general because from my experience they are the bottom rung of motels. Sorry to say that but I have yet to stay at a Rodeway that has exceeded my expectation. The carpet smell is the least of my issues. Upon checking in first red flags was an almost empty lot. Second if you request a late checkout its $20/hour . When asked if there were any other suites available because we wanted a first floor we were told they were completely booked and no other rooms were available. ok fine . Because we were rushing and trying to get to Hershey for our reservation we just dropped our stuff off in the room and left. We arrived back at 11pm to get ready for bed because at this point we were exhausted. upon inspecting the room and I fault myself for this because had I just taken a few minutes to check before we left for the park this whole situation could have been avoided. To avoid rambling I'm going to list everything wrong in the unit I was given. The carpets are disgusting. Like I said because these unit open into the outside they attract more dirt and smell. So they need to be cleaned more thoroughly and regularly. The locks on the door are janky at best. There is no stability in the door.Every slightly strong breeze would make the door slightly wobbly and seem like someone was trying to jingle the door. We ended up moving the chair by the door and putting all our stuff on it to secure the door just in case. Upon entering the first room is extremely dark, dingy, and dirty. The space above the headboard area is extremely dusty and disgusting. The kitchen are is small and you would think since there minimal appliances and surface areas it would be easy to clean and maintain. But no don't expect that here. The small refrigerator was dirty and full of fingerprints on the door so they either didn't clean it after the last guest or they just assumed it was clean cause when I open it i was hit with a foul fridge odor. Everyone should know what Im talking about. In the freezer there was a spilled liquid that froze over. Who know how long it was in there and what it was. For one it wasn't clear so I can assume it wasnt water. There were water stains in the sink and looks like it hadn't been wiped in a while.
Continue to next review for part 2 it wouldn’t let me add the...
Read moreIt has fairly new owners from what I understand. It's a beautiful building with a seasonal indoor pool, (I think it was heated) great rooms with several types of mattresses in the rooms (I'll call them "Papa Bear, Momma Bear, and Baby Bear" beds because that's how the three mattresses in our room felt 😂) Wonderful idea to put a various selection of mattress types into one room. (and the beds were roomy and inviting with a blanket, bedspread, top sheet and fitted sheet over the thick mattresses) 3 amazingly comfortable pillows were on EACH bed....The rooms have plenty of windows for great lighting that have thick curtains you can close if you prefer no light, a refrigerator, kitchen sink and small counter, coffee pot, a dining room table and chairs, extra sitting/guest chair, ceiling fans, flat screen tv, wifi, amazing water pressure in the nice sized shower/tub, bar soaps, rose smelling shampoo/conditioner, lotions, an ironing board and an iron, a decently spaced place to hang your clothes, a really great heating unit that works quickly and correctly. I dried my hair standing at that heater because the air pressure/flow felt so good after that shower, but they do have a hair dryer, night stands perfectly placed with 3-way lamps that have outlets for your device chargers, etc. (one on each side of the room). Plenty of trash cans throughout the room smartly placed too. There's a small gazebo out front with a table and chairs as well. One of the BEST things was location. It was just a few miles away from Hershey Park, a grocery store, restaurants, the big coliseum, and so many other types of stores. I'm not exaggerating the distance. It's quiet and away from "too much traffic", but close to the main streets you need in order to quickly where you need to go, to get what you need and get back. The owners were fabulous and accommodating, friendly, and personable. Very kind people running this place. Their parking is genius. I can't say enough good things, but I'm honestly just describing what it was like for me. The prices are also great. I'm sure they have more amenities that I did not get to take advantage of. Next time...
Read moreIn arriving we had an issue trying to find anyone that worked there. Went to a phone that said to press 0 for help at the front desk and the phone just rang and rang. In the meantime another family arrived for check in so we hit 0 again and same result. After about five minutes a guy shows up from across the street, he went out to grab his dinner. Unfortunately for us we had an almost 7 hour drive to get there and were exhausted and really just wanted to get to our room. So we ended up with an upstairs end unit. Was super surprised to walk in and find a mini apartment up there. There was a little closet space, full desk and chair, dresser and a newer flatscreen tv. ( had some wicked remote problems ). Wifi claims to be open connection but ended ip calling the front desk because we couldnt get it to work. Ended up needing a password. Anyway there was a king size bed and a full size bed both in that room,an armchair, full size fridge, microwave, countertop area with a sink and a coffeemaker. Had kitchen cabinets and even provided dishes and utensils. Bathroom was standard. Had a blowdryer and the closet had a full size ironing board. The best part though was being able to be back at the hotel room within a few minutes of leaving the concert. They have a nice lil breakfast in the morning, with various pastries, cereal, bagels, coffee, juice and WAFFLES! A machine that makes 4 mini waffles, better then cutting a big waffle in half to share! Will definitely stay...
