Saw Jesus Christ Superstar on a Saturday night at this historic theater in Hershey, PA. The venue is beautiful, with stunning architecture and interior design. The lobby was breathtaking and the staff was very friendly. Be advised, you will be required to go through a security checkpoint which includes a metal detector. Overall it was swift and stress-free, even if it does cause a backup at the entrance. It's just the world in which we live now. There is plenty of free parking available at the venue. The actual house was intimate. Even from the very last row in the balcony, the stage appeared close and not a single obstructed view to be found. The only negative is the seats themselves. I'm a big guy, both height and weight. I had no problem fitting in the seat, it was the complete lack of leg room that caused discomfort. I'm 6'4” and my knees were crammed against the seat back in front of me. There was no room to stretch out and after about 15 minutes, my legs began hurting and falling asleep. I ended up standing, which was a benefit of being in the very last row. I'm in the minority though. Most folks won't have this specific issue. But if you're over 6’, you may find the space between rows an issue. It is important to know that there is no elevator in this venue. If you are seated in loge or balcony seats, you're going to climb stairs. There are several restrooms in the venue, including wheelchair accessible, but none on the upper balcony levels. There is a concessions stand, but it is cashless, so make sure you have plastic should you want to make a purchase. This is an amazing theater overall. It's not the fault of the venue that I'm tall. The friendliness of the staff and ushers, the overall beauty of the theater, and the amazing shows they book make this a fantastic destination for any theater junkie.

Was here for the tournament of gamers, a sold out show! Here is how it went. 6pm doors open. 6:10pm I park in the extended lot, it is empty. Go get in line. There are like 3 or 4 lines going into the building. The lines are very slow. The main parking lot looks full. 6:40pm make it inside. After going through a metal detector, you can either buy merch or have your ticket scanned and find you seat. Seats are easy to find and staff helps you. Seats are alright. I was able to barely fit (6ft 5in). Seats do not decline enough or the stage is too low. You will be looking at the back of the head in front of you. 7pm show is supposed to start. 7:30pm show opens. Everyone is in their seats. Then after like 20min there is a 20min break. 8:10pm? Show finally starts. Throughout the entire 3 hours the show goes with no issues. Lighting, audio, electronics all run perfectly. This theatre is old and has a charm in its beauty, but I will say it. The theatre needs remodeling. Better seats, better viewing. If my experience is going to be blocked by the person in front of me, then why even go here? Also entrance security needed to be in the front entrance as soon as you walk in, NOT in the lobby where you got people trying to buy stuff, trying to get to their seats, trying to go to the restroom. Too much clutter. The only redeeming qualities about this theatre are its staff and the endless amount of parking available. Great theatre, but could be better. Lastly, NOT SO GRUMP! NOT SO GRUMP! NOT SO GRUMP!

Wonderfully funny performance from the cast of Beetlejuice. We'd seen the performance on Broadway, and wanted to see it again! The lighting and sound team did a phenomenal job for what they were working with. It was also so fun to see audience members dressed up in Beetlejuice-styled attire. Notes for Going to the Venue: - If you bring a bag: it is very strict to get them in. They do have a "bag box" it must fit in(5"x8"x1). - Fair warning, you do go through metal detectors. - Have your ticket loaded ahead of time! There is no easy access Wi-Fi in the main waiting area before they open the theater. Depending on your cell provider, you may not have signal! - For anyone with trouble walking up multiple flights of stairs, we would suggest lower seats rather than the balcony. As there is no elevator in the complex. - If you are bringing small children and the balcony is the only option, I'd highly suggest a booster seat of sorts for them to even see the stage. I would say this also applys for adults 5'2 and under. - If you happen to get row Q in the balcony, there is a concrete ledge under your feet and behind you. As it is the last row in the balcony. - Seats are small, if you are over 5'8 you may have trouble having enough room. - Depending on where you sit, the sound can be very loud. Ear protection may be needed.

We attended the Tom Jones concert on Tuesday, Sept 13th. I rated this a 4 star only because of Tom Jones. Otherwise it would have been 3 due to the way Hershey dealt with the crowd. But we had great seats.. However, at times, the sound system was so loud that it was hard to hear some of the words to his songs. But on the whole 2 straight hours with no breaks. Remarkable for a man his age. Always liked Tom Jones and his songs and still do. Now for the negatives.. I don't believe that Hershey was prepared for as many people as there were. No provisions made for handicapped or people who might have had trouble standing in long lines which stretched a very long way down both sides of the entrances. In addition, once we got through the metal detectors, the lobby area was a "free for all" to get your tickets scanned. No order at all. And when we went in,which was about 7:50 (the concert started at 7:30), there was only 1 person doing the scanning. When we finally got to the Luge area, it was hard to get any of the 4 ushers to help us find our seat in the dark. Very upset that we had to miss the beginning. We had arrived in plenty of time as instructed, to be able to get in on time. Very dissatisfied with the way this concert was handled.

Such a gem of a theater. I've been coming here my whole life. The theater is lovingly maintained. It's historic details have remained making it so charming. We saw the Nutcracker. It was offered at both the Whitaker center and the Hershey theater. We opted for the Hershey theater because of the on-site parking. I'd suggest arriving early to get a convenient spot. There are people directing traffic. It did take awhile to get out of the lot due to people walking where you need to get out. We took kids and sat in the balcony. I like the rise in the seats so short kids have a clear view. The staff were friendly and helpful. Be aware that security means no normal sized purses. Only my daughter's small handbag was allowed in. This made it difficult to keep track of the necessary sensory items needed for my autistic daughter. I did offer to let them search my bag, but they said no. We ended up losing her comfort blanket and had to spend a lot of time searching for it. Picture provided. Purse is 8x9 inches. But we run into other venues that aren't always accommodating, so it's not surprising. Overall though, we had a great night, except for the blanket meltdown.

Update 11/02/24 This was a much better experience, less hectic and rushed due to the fact that we arrived earlier! Ain’t Too Proud, the Broadway musical about the lives of The Temptations is a must see! New: Hershey Theatre will CLOSE for major upgrades and renovations on January 25, 2025 and reopen in early 2026! I hope the beauty of the interior is preserved! This was an experience on a Saturday, 2:00 pm Matinee for Beetlejuice, The Musical, on tour at Hershey. Suggestion # 1: Give yourselves plenty of time to arrive well before the performance because while there was enough parking ( free) there were not enough people directing the flow of traffic and it took long to park. Suggestion #2: Follow the rule of SMALL purse! Also if you happen to have a pepper spray attached to your key chain, leave it in the car! I had to throw mine in the trash! Suggestion #3: Use the bathroom before the show. At Intermission the lines are very long. On the positive side, the theatre’s architecture is beautiful, the staff friendly and security tight. Beetlejuice, a great performance!
