I was at the MeltSpa 11/17/20 I had two services, Ocean Therapy Immersion and a Geranium and Rose Foot Treatment and my husband had a Hot Stone Massage. When making our appointments, my husband only wanted a Hot Stone Massage which was only available at 2:30 so it was difficult to find another service that I was interested in that was also around that same time period. I was very disappointed to find out that I couldn't get a facial like I wanted because the individual who does facials was not available for Monday or Tuesday. I also tried to book a few other body services but the individual on the phone told me that they weren't available and the 12:30 was the closest one available.
The Foot Treatment was an extra something special so I wouldn't have to wait around an extra 75 minutes while my husband had his service done. I felt that my pedicure service was extremely quick and was not up to standard. This is booked as a 50-minute service but I was back in the relaxation room within a half hour of the start of my service. I never felt "rushed" during the service, however, I did notice that there was one woman who was getting a pedicure as I was entering the room and I finished before she was done getting her nails painted. There was also another woman who came in about 5 minutes after me, who wasn't yet even having her nails painted by the time I left. If you want to do a quick service, that's fine but I expect my pedicure to be perfect and unfortunately, it wasn't. My toes had plenty of time to dry (20-30 minutes waiting in the Relaxation Room) and yet my polish is smudged, when I got home I noticed that the clear top polish had pooled in the crease between my toenail and skin on a big toe and left a little "shelf" of dried polish which started to rub on my skin, and there are multiple toes that the polish doesn't cover the entire nail.
In conversation with the nail technician, I mentioned the issue with booking the facial and she seemed surprised that I had issues booking my services. She lead me to believe that Tuesday was a slow day and that we should've been able to get our services closer together.
The pedicure treatment was a splurge because I can get a gel manicure and a pedicure at my local nail salon for the price of MeltSpa's pedicure. So when I knowingly make a splurge purchase and am disappointed with the service on top of it. I won't be getting any nail services done in the future at MeltSpa because the quality of your service does not match the price.
My husband also mentioned that his massage therapist dropped the hot stones a few times during his service. She did not use them on him, however, it does take away from the relaxation experience.
Overall, this entire experience was disappointing compared to past visits to the MeltSpa.
I was contacted by management from Meltspa asking for my phone number, which they already have on my file, to discuss this further. However, after providing my phone number within two hours of the original email from Meltspa email, no one has ever contacted me to discuss this.
To spend $400+ as well as gratuity included before the services occur. This entire experience was a severe disappointment and most likely will not book further services...
Read moreI was very disappointed in my experience. I had a gift certificate so luckily this encounter didn't cost me anything, but if I had paid out of pocket I would have been upset. It started with the difficulty just getting an appointment. Most things were over a month or more booked out which was frustrating. I finally had to call to get an appointment because the online system was great cumbersome to use. I specifically made my appointment on a Monday through Thursday so that I could have a cheaper session so my gift card could go farther. Unfortunately due to my work schedule I had to change and the only available date was a Friday. By that time it was 2 months later and I honestly forgot that it cost more on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It would have been nice when I was rescheduling if the person had mentioned that so I would have had it in my head and not been surprised when I went to check out. Not a big thing, just a customer service detail (if a change in appointment causes a change in price you should let a customer know). The appointment itself was mediocre. I have had remarkably better pedicures for half the price. If I'm paying $85 for 45 minutes, the chair that I'm sitting in should work and shouldn't look worn down and dirty, and if I'm getting a chocolate pedicure I expected to at least smell chocolate. I have the chocolate lotion from Hershey and it definitely leaves a chocolate smell. I did get the chocolate pedicure, not once did I smell any chocolate or cocoa butter. The gal who did the service was newer. She was nice, but not very skilled. I never got a massage as part of my pedicure which is typical, she did very little buffing on my toes and basically spent minimal time touching my feet at all. I spent more time just sitting in the chair trying to get it to work and with my feet being cold outside of the hot water then actually getting the service I was paying for. She did get me hot chocolate, which was delicious and I appreciated it. She offered me a chocolate muffin, but because I am gluten free I was not able to enjoy that. That was not her fault. I recommend the melt spa expand their offerings for those with allergies. The final straw that will keep me from returning was during checkout. I found out that 20% gratuity was already added, I didn't even get a choice and I would not have paid that much gratuity for the service I received. You should pay your employees a living wage so that you're not putting that burden on the customers . Finally, I did spend over $100 before taxes but I was only given one melt spa certificate, not the two I should have gotten, which lessens any likelihood of my return. The only reason I gave this place two stars is because the gal doing my service was new, she was kind, and I honestly think she was trying her best. Overall, too much hype...
Read moreVery disappointed for only my second visit (likely my last). To celebrate my elopement this Fall, my mom planned a mini spa bachelorette weekend for me, her, & my sister. She booked us each a 50 min massage and a 45 min classic pedicure. When she booked the appointments months ago, my mom didnât know I had a full gel pedicure already from last month, my sister still had a small bit of gel on her toes from a pedicure months ago (so she didn't have much on), and my mom had literally two toes with gel polish on. We were told it takes 15-20 min to remove gel polish that is already on, and since the appointment was booked inappropriately, we were presented the following options only: either we cancel the pedicure appointments the day of and still have to pay 50% of the service, or we still forfeit the appointments and pay just the gratuity. Both of those options are lose-lose, so we would still pay a portion for a service not rendered. I attempted to negotiate or even reason with the manager, Samantha, and I told her our situation and that I had come into town 3 hours away to have this weekend, and we all really wanted to get the pedicures if there was any type of accommodation or middle ground for these types of situations. After our massages, the manager told me they would be able to do the gel removal, buff/clip/shape our toes, & put on new polish; due to the timing constraints, they had to keep it to 45 min. I appreciated that and agreed to the compromise. Basically forfeiting the foot soak, scrub, and massage part of the pedicure, which was fine. Well, the final âpedicureâ service ended up just being the gel polish removal, buffing the tops of the toenails, and they literally slapped on regular polish. From start to finish, taking off gel, buffing the tops of our toenails (again, no nail cut down, cuticle care/clip or even push back, and no nail filing or shaping), and applying new polish took them 30 min, which is not even the full service time. And for 15 min of that 30 min, the nail techs were not present because they were waiting for the gel to soak off, and then at the end, they left while the new polish dried. Then the spa had the audacity to try and charge us $85 each for their half-assed service. I understand they couldnât do the full service in 45 min, but they didnât even try to provide a fraction of the service they couldâve in 45 min. I mean seriously, my mom literally had two toes with gel on; there is no reason she shouldâve been conned out of a full pedicure service. It honestly was just the fact that we were treated like we didnât matter and they couldnât be bothered to try and accommodate a customer even though my mom spent $600 for 3 massages. Itâs not shocking this âluxury spaâ has only 4.3 stars on Google,...
