Love this short hike for daily runs. It's close and convenient but has a nice couple of circular trails so you can return back to the top without having to backtrack.
Not recommended to go to after it rains because some parts of the trail can be a little steep. Which is great for getting in a more invigorating hike, but just not after a rain because it'll be muddy and very slippery.
There are 3 entrances but the main one is at the top near the facility buildings with a butterflied parking lot. When you cut through the small field from Grand Avenue, it goes left or right. Doesn't really make a difference which side you go to but I think most hikers go to the left. The facilities seem to use the lot to the right more. But, they really go to the same place, so, I don't think it really matters.
I also love that the trail has various areas that it cuts through. There's a wooded area at the trough of the trail where I've found very interesting foliage. Then, there's prairie like areas that connect to the semi mountainous peaks.
This is a bonus to living in the area. If you are going to make the drive, chantry flats is a really great place to drive and hike to. There are plenty of longer and more of a day long hiking places to go to nearby. This is just a quick 30-40 minute hike if you don't stop. I would not drive 30 minutes just to hike for 30 minutes. But, it is a great...

However, it is a great course to invest an hour. If the weather is right, you can see a beautiful cloudy scene like the picture I posted. Parking is also free. You can especially see the sunset scene. It is really beautiful. I recommend going down and eating delicious rice noodles at the end of the trail. This is a really peaceful, quiet, and...
