Hiking trails connected to the Diamond Bar Center and neighborhoods. This is a go-to spot whenever I’m looking to get a solid heart-thumping workout without driving far. There’s free parking in the neighborhood (on the aptly named Steep Canyon Road) if you want to start off with a steep ascent, or you could park at the Diamond Bar Center to start off with a descent. The trail is very exposed and there’s very little shade. Dogs are allowed on leashes, although note that there are rattlesnakes so be careful. There’s plenty of benches for you to sit and take in the view. They’re open during coronavirus and masks are required. There’s no bathrooms or water fountains on the trail. The trail itself is wide and made of packed dirt; you could wear hiking boots or sneakers - neither would be amiss. Overall this is a free and close way to get some steps in and take in some fresh air - that’s always five...
Read moreLoved this trail. We went with my daughter. To my surprise she completed the trail walking almost 90% of the entire walk. We were so happy. Trail itself isn't difficult, my kid is 5 years and she pushed herself even tho she didn't want to walk.
Difficult level of the trail is in between low ND medium, there are some steep climbs and downhill is slippery too. You should be having good grip shoes to be safe on this trail.
I would suggest this for kids with 5+ years, with some amount of carrying them, you should be able to complete this. It took almost an hour, as we stopped in between to catch some breath..
I will take my daughter again if she wants to do this again. It was a fun...
Read moreMy son and I really enjoy hiking Diamond Steep Canyon Trail. I believe there are a total of 3 trails ranging in length and steepness. We have hiked 2 of the shorter trails, which probably will take at least 1 hour to one and a half hour long respectively. We have not hiked the long trail which I heard may take up to 3 hours to finish. Anyways, even the shortest trail is challenging, so whether you are a beginner or intermediate, you will get your money's worth! Scenary is great, hills are steep, and you can clearly see all of Diamond Bar and beyond when you are close to the summit! I highly recommend this hike, and bring all the necessary gears and water supply because you...
