My kids and I waited excitedly as this was built and we have gotten to play there for hours the last two days. However, I have some serious concerns about the safety and lack of accessibility of the playground equipment. The main slide is completely inaccessible for mobility challenged individuals because of the steep angle. All three slides are metal, which is going to create a burning hazard when temps go up. The climbing structure and seesaw are fun. The rock walls are also neat. But my greatest concern is the splash pad that 1. Is cobbled with stones and 2. contains at least five huge boulders. It is unthinkable to me to plan a wet play area with both of these factors. Another parent mentioned to me the concern of the placement as well, which is directly only a few feet from the street corner, with no barrier for small children. I'm hopeful that by raising these concerns now in the winter, the city will have time to rectify these major...
