Dover Motor Speedway, The Monster Mile...... What an awesome time we had, and to experience it as VIPs and with my son and my father, it was the greatest. Three generations, making memories together at the races. My neighbor works for a racing team and got us VIP passes, which basically granted us pretty much unlimited access to just about everything under the sun racing related for the whole weekend. My parents frequent Dover Downs hotel and Casino and have a casino host. Too bad I didn't didn't get a chance to meet her. I wish I had because she's awesome too. She help my mother with getting a second room for my son and I to spend the weekend in and also got us tickets to a second race, and we ended up watching the Bet Rivers 200 from the indoor grandstand. Because of our VIP passes, we got to hang out in the race track garage area and the pits, which inabled us to get up close and personal with the cars, the drivers, and the pit crews. My son and I even got to meet and get a selfie with a racing legend none other than Richard Childress himself. Cool guy and knows his selfies. He had my son move over, so he was in the center of the picture and then helped hold my arm study while I was snapping the pic. It was priceless and totally unforgettable. No matter where we were in the pits and no matter how in the way I felt, all of the race team crew members were courteous, cool, calm, and collective. It's like they were used to people being in their way or something, lol. The next day, we attended the Wurth 400. We had seats that were right around the start finish line in the regular grandstand. This part of our experience was a little different than the rest, this due to my fellow Nascar fans being rude unprepared and kinda derogatory at times, but that had nothing to do with the venue and even then it did not take away from our 5 star Nascar experience. The only advice that I would have for the powers that be at Dover Motor Speedway would be that you need more food and / or drink vendors and possibly some vendors selling at least drinks in the stands during the race because no one wants to wait an hour in line for a bottle of water when they could be watching the racing action. That being said, I definitely can't end my review or say enough about the Nascar staff, the security staff, all of the other track staff, and the volunteers that make these races happen and run smoothly. Everyone was on their A game and was working hard to make our Nascar racing experience safe and great and everything we hoped...
Read moreIt was an interesting time at the 2024 Würth 400. The NASCAR Cup Series definitely knows how to put on a party.
There was a fun little pre-show experience. We got to see so many famous sports athletes and veterans and stuff like that. The way that they honored everyone for being awesome is just an awesome thing to me. It wasn’t that hard to see the action, not even in the front row. The only real obstruction is the safety gate thing that blocks a lot of the view.
As far as before the race, the tailgate lot itself is acceptable, there are plenty of fun activities to do and concerts to see in the Fan Zone, and they have a wonderful monster statue that fits the mood of the sport and location. lol. I would definitely arrive at least 4-5 hours before the race to catch it all.
However……the staff had little to no respect towards the fans, which is alarming.
One of the parking ticketing members lashed out at me and cussed me out all because I gave him a $20 bill when the parking fee was $10. I’m sorry sir, do you not want me as a loyal fan to ever come back to this speedway again????? For goodness sake, I didn’t have enough 5s or 1s, and I had no 10s, and I didn’t know it was cash only. How am I supposed to know any of this stuff if they’re not gonna tell me online in advance??? He was such a jerk. I hope he got fired after the event.
And to make matters worse, my best friend got really sick after eating some funnel cake. He was in terrible shape. The snack bar that made the funnel cake had a warning posted on their tent stating that their food was not pasteurized, and that kids, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems could easily get sick. How could that snack bar do this to people?????? How could a high quality speedway allow vendor with deadly food into their property.
I thought my best friend was going to die.
In conclusion, my return to the Dover International Speedway is...
Read moreFirst of all, I want to mention to go to Dover in the first place was difficult for me because I'm a disabled veteran.
I want to make sure EVERYONE is aware of how things are run at Dover Speedway so they don't lose money travelling to the place or paying for tickets.
They will not do ticket refunds and the insurance you can buy does not cover "rain". So, IF it rains you are basically screwed over, lose all that money you spent and have nothing but a ticket to throw away that is basically only good for a fire.
They will say come the next day if you get rained out. They will not race if it rains. Let me repeat that for you.
They WILL NOT RACE if it rains. They will say come back the next day and that is your ONLY option.
Most can't afford to do 600 miles two times in a row back to back just to see a "race".
They expect you to pay for a hotel room and that's "if" one is available and for apparently only those who have the size of Donald Trump's pocketbook.
They have no shelter for you if it rains. If you do happen to find shelter they kick you out.
Overall, the place is disorganized. They make it a huge hassle going there.
You have to pay $10.00 extra just to park on a Sunday.
They have no coverage over the stadium to protect you from the elements yet have a rule of "no umbrellas".
This left a completely bitter taste in my mouth. Not only am I now out $100.00 for tickets, $10.00 for parking, toll fees and mileage, but I am beyond disappointed. I've never been to a car race and this would have been my first one.
Don't waste your time, money or energy going. It's not worth it. I'll NEVER go back again EVER!!!!!
I wish I would have had foresight to see what would happen. Hopefully my review of the place will help some poor soul avoid the costly...
