Umi Sushi & Seafood Buffet — Restaurant in Dover

The update is very nice. The prices used to be a lot more affordable. I am 5ft tall and my 11 year old daughter is about 4'9, shorter than me. She had on combat boots and her hair is afro style. They counted her as in adult (including her hair and boots) I let that go I was a little annoyed because it's an $11 price difference. Especially when she was only gonna eat the French fries and ice cream sandwich from there. But then the fried chicken was a little tough so my 5 year old bit into it and he tooth came loose and was bleeding alot so she was scared to eat. I asked if I could get half off for hers but since she literally didn't get to eat or drink or anything, I said it's ok if not just thought I'd ask. They took off $1.50. My 11 year old didn't get a drink so I asked if my 2 year old could have it instead, since there was no charge for his food. They said no and gave me a hard time about getting the 11 year olds drink after the fact. I said if I'm paying for it, then I'd like to have it. We used to all be able to eat here for under $70 and we paid $145 today. Food was a hit or miss. The cake and green beans were delicious. A lot of the chicken was over cooked and a lot fat attached to it. The sushi and rice was dried out. The service was readily available although it was quite uncomfortable when they were all standing around us the whole time. I'm not sure if we will be back.

Also be very careful in the parking lot, the people seem to fly through it without a care...

I recently visited this new Asian buffet restaurant, and I must say, it's a delightful culinary experience that caters to a wide variety of tastes. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant were also very appealing, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment to indulge in your favorite dishes. The cleanliness of the buffet stations and dining area was commendable, making for a pleasant dining experience.

However, I couldn't help but notice some customers were overindulging in popular items such as crab legs, leaving little to none for others. This was quite disheartening, as it took away from the otherwise enjoyable experience. I would suggest that the restaurant management consider implementing a separate charge or a limit on high-demand items like crab legs to ensure that all patrons have a fair chance to savor these delicious offerings.

Overall, I highly recommend this Asian buffet for its diverse selection, pleasant atmosphere, and cleanliness. I hope the management will address the issue of customer etiquette to make the experience even better...

Great food with a wide selection. Unfortunately, quite expensive. Probably won't go again aside from rare, special occasions. For me, my wife, and two kids to eat dinner, it was about $120. Also, the staff seemed to awkwardly hang right over us the whole time, as if keeping an eye on what we were doing. Worst of all, when I went to pay, I showed the waitress my phone for a 10% off coupon. She asked to take it in her hands (I assumed to see it better), and she walked off with it, saying she needed to show the manager. She was totally out of sight for 2-3 minutes with my unlocked phone filled with personal, private information. I was very uncomfortable with that and have never had anyone do anything like it. I went through my phones files and apps in the parking lot to make sure nothing had been accessed, but I still can't be sure. I'd like to assume she just wasn't thinking, but I certainly won't be letting anyone 'see' my phone ever again.

Edit: The thorough reply is much appreciated. I do hope to give the place another try some day. Unlimited fresh-made sushi is basically non-existent on all of Delmarva since Hibachi got rid of it, and the selections at Umi are pretty good, lacking only perhaps some sort of tempura...
