The room was hot when we got into our room, the room had a musty smell when we arrived, the room was clean and the beds were relatively comfortable. The bathroom was stocked with clean towels but the shower was very tough to navigate it basic operations. The hot water was cold for well over two minutes before we used the shower, the temperature was fluctuating and found it tough to stand in the shower for fear of staying warm. The tub drain was stuck closed until I fiddled with it. In the morning I made coffee and drank it which was fine but Im an early riser and went to the front desk at 7 am and could not get anyone to give me more coffee. We only made two cups. There was two of us. I rang the bell three times and raised my voice to try and get someone but after 10 minutes I gave up. Lastly, after breakfast an African American older man 50-60 knocked on our door twice then entered the room ( we did not let him in) while my wife was in the bathroom and I laying on the bed undressed. He said he was there to fix something yet we did not indicate to the front desk there was a problem. This really scared us and is TOTALLY UNEXPECTED AND UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR. He said he was a maintenance man and backed off and closed the the door. As we were gathering Our things to leave he was in the hallway with two garbage bags and took them outside and placed them in his truck that was parked in a handicap spot. I took a picture of his plates.
We feel he was trying to steal something out of our room. I truly feel you need to investigate this guy and give us a refund. The plate # is Delaware C84730 white chevy...
Read moreThis was our first time staying at this hotel. We were visiting for a Wedding. The Front Desk Attendant, Megan, was very nice! Professional, helpful, courteous. It was such a delightful experience with her. I felt bad she was working by herself though, during check in hours? It appeared that the overnight, and day shift each had 2 employees working. Which doesn't make much sense as to why mid-shift, which is when people are checking in, would only have one employee working? Seems a little backwards to me. Megan had a line out the door at one point. It was really ashame. But she handled it well, and with a smile! Keep her please!!!! She is truly a gem! Her professionalism and customer service is top notch!
As far as the rooms go, we smelled marijuana in the hallway. It was very strong. The room was a bit outdated, and the carpet was dirty and dingy.
The "breathing" noise that another customer mentioned, was something that we to experienced in our room as well. It took some getting used to.
The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean, although shampoo was empty. Completely. So that tells me housekeeping must've skipped that step! But they too were very nice, professional and courteous ladies! Things happen we understand. Not a huge deal.
But the rooms really do need an upgrade, or at least a refresh. U cant crack the windows to get fresh air, so that kinda stinks.
All in all, not a terrible stay.
Ps. Please give Megan a raise! đ She deserves it! She is doing the work of...
Read moreOur experience at the Comfort Inn was outstanding. The hotel is fairly well located. Turn left our of the hotel parking lot, keep going ~ 2 miles and you are in the heart of historic downtown Dover. As far as I could tell, it was the closest major hotel to downtown. The room was comfortable and quiet, the hotel was neat and clean, and the neighborhood seemed safe. We were impressed that the room had both a refrigerator and microwave. I do have two complaints. First, either the wi-fi was down during out entire stay or there were no antennaes accessible from our room. This was just a minor irritation, as I had good 4G reception on my iPhone, and my past experience is that this is almost always faster than hotel wi-fi anyway. The other, also minor, complaint is that the breakfast items were not being restocked in a timely manner. I only saw one employee monitoring the breakfast area, and she was working continuously. However, being Saturday after the 4th of July, the breakfast was full of younger kids, most being only loosely supervised by parents, so this took a toll on the stock as well as the presentation of breakfast. Plus, the hotel was probably just more full than usual owing to the holiday. At any rate, the hotel should have assigned two people to work breakfast on such a busy day. The breakfast was tasty and there were a good variety of items available. Overall, we got a good value for the money, and would probably stay here again on a return...
