I had the pleasure of planning my sisters surprise engagement and chose this restaurant as our dinner option.
I met with the owner to walk the restaurant and discuss details. They were made aware that it would be 40-50 people, everyone would cover their own bill and we would arrive approximately 6:30-7 as we had to complete the proposal. I called two days later to confirm and the week of the event to confirm the reservation was still on schedule.
Prior to arriving, I received a call during the proposal at 6:35 and unable to answer. I returned the call at 6:37 with no response.
When we arrived at the restaurant we were never greeted but sent back to the room that was reserved for the large party-40 people, at this time.
Chris - the bartender/manager I guess that is her title stated that she is unsure why such a large party was booked confirming everyone would pay for their own meals. She stated maybe the owner did not understand because they do not speak English well as she has to translate. She stated that we would have to place everyone’s order on one check. She then proceeded to complain about the time we arrived at the restaurant which was 6:45. I informed her that I communicated the arrival to everyone as we had other things to complete prior.
She accused my aunt of checking her watch multiple times insinuating that service was taking too long and she felt that was unfair given that we were late for our 6:30-7 reservation. She asked for her drink she never received for over an hour and stated that took too long while checking messages on her APPLE WATCH!
Chris stated someone in our party came in and said we would be there about 6:00 pm but she could not tell me who said it and what they looked like to address it. In fact, she said she wasn’t even there but someone said it and then proceeded to say she had multiple times communicated to her. I’ve never spoken with her as I was the point of contact for this reservation. In fact, I never saw her when I did the walk through nor did I speak with her on the other two occasions.
She stated that they had 5:30 written on the book. I explained to her the first event occurred at 5:30 and dinner to follow. She stated either way she had to turn other people around just to serve us and we were not on time.
It took them an hour to get us drinks and figure out who would serve us. After 1 1/2, we received our food. It was cold, over and undercooked, bland and rushed. Although, we did have a large party and I can understand the stress that may have occurred it was not worth over $1000.
I asked Chris if she would have us leave due to the “ language barrier and misunderstanding she kept mentioning” and she quickly changed her tone stating that she is just trying to make this as smooth as possible. She continued to have loud and aggressive conversations with the other workers about our party making things very uncomfortable and frustrating.
I will never return to this establishment, nor will I recommend it for anyone else. Please do not waste your money. If you are looking for good food, this is not it. If you are looking for decent customer service, this is not it. It is unfortunate that such an amazing day ended like this!
We decided to stay and finish out the evening as we did not want to have to move everyone and this was the only restaurant in the area that accepted large parties. All in all, this was one of my worst experiences. Definitely in need of new staff and customer service training. Chris- what a disgusting and arrogant face of...
Read morePros: Food was good this time around. Some of it was okay. Miso soup was bland. Cons: customer service. Me and my friend come here every other weekend after work. We came and got seated quickly. Then we ordered and got our appetizers and drink quickly. The dinner portion took longer than expected. Usually does not take almost an hour after getting our orders. Even with being understaffed. All my years of going here with my mom, friends and other family. I have had this issue one time. But it was understandable. (Before covid). After this time around. I am not sure if they wanted to serve us or was tired of working. When we placed our order it should have not taken this long. Even a family after us got their order rapidly. The food was okay, but the service just sucked at the end. I usually don't say anything until the end because as a loyal costumer I like to see how the service is for myself. The restaurant was not even that busy. Meanwhile as we were eating, we finished our drinks. Not once did this person come by and asked "How is everything?" Or "Did you want another refill??" None! At the end of our dinner. We were not even asked if "Do want to have dessert?" Nothing. Just gave us our checks. We paid and left. I guess our favored tip wasn't enough to satisfy them. So she came outside and asked my friend about the service we received. I was trying to be nice and took alot for me to stay cool. I wanted to explain about it. Since she asked. But was quickly interrupted with attitude and a walk away. HUGE RED FLAG! Never walk out of your position and confront a costumer about service. Never in a million years of my bad experiences with paying upfront and tipping what I felt was suitable at any restaurant a person would confront me and my family or friend. Totally unacceptable and made the service a complete mess. I felt completely appalled and embarrassed. You want something you have to earn it. Is what I believe. We all work too damn hard. But to be disappointed and confronted like that as if we dined and dashed. You WONT be seeing any of us again. I won't recommend it to anyone. Such...
Read moreThe food was absolutely amazing and rivals to be one of the best sushi places I've ever been to. I eat a lot of sushi and this type of food, so I know what I like and every opportunity I get to eat a a new sushi place, I take it. I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to anyone that likes sushi, but I have a few gripes. It may sound like a small problem, but going to many sushi places, they all have the same kind of atmosphere. They play very soft music quietly to sooth and relax the customer. There are usually plant life and some type of fountain or running water, but there is pretty much none of that. My other problem with the atmosphere was the music. They played really loud upbeat pop music, which as you can imagine was not all that soothing. Although one thing they got perfect in my opinion was the lighting. There is a tad bit of natural light that comes in through the door and all the other lights are nice and dim, but not to the point were you can't see. My other small problem is with the staff. I had no problem with the treatment at all. They kept our drinks filled and brought our food with a smile. Everyone was really nice, but there was a lack in customer interaction between the staff and us. In this review I did focus on the problems, but that is because the good out ways the bad dramatically here, which is no problem in its self, but it should be said that where there are pros, there are cons. As I said before, the food was still some of the best I've ever had, the portions were great for the price, (one of the rolls was 4 or 5 dollars for 8 peices) or at least that is my opinion, but I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that enjoys sushi if they can overlook the small amount of problems. Finally I would like to mention that I ate during the lunch hours and I don't know what it is like...
