There's been another major food recall reported in 43 states and Canada. This time the culprit is thought to be salmonella in onions. More than 640 cases and 85 hospitalizations have been reported due to salmonella found in red onions. The likely source is Thomson International, Inc of Bakersfield, California. On August 1, 2020, the company recalled all varieties of onions including red, yellow, white and sweet onions that could have come into contact with the potentially contaminated red onions in case there was cross-contamination.
Where Is the Recall? These onions were shipped nationwide and to Canada between May 1 and August 1, 2020 and are sold under the following brand names: Thomson Premium, TLC Thomson International, Tender Loving Care, El Competitor, Hartley’s Best, Onion 52, Majestic, Imperial Fresh, Kroger, Utah Onions, and Food Lion. They were distributed in 5, 10, 25, 40 and 50 pound cartons, and 2, 3, 5, 10, 25 and 50 pounds mesh sacks.
Further, any products that contained the recalled onions are being recalled including Giant Eagle and Taylor Farms products, and the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has a published list of ready-to-eat meals and poultry products that contain these recalled onions."

Read moreHad an unfortunate experience in Produce Junction this morning and I wish I could say it was the first time. There is an associate that works in the berry section that has a terrible attitude. Last week, my wife and I were shopping at Produce Junction and my wife asked this same associate if they carry yellow watermelon. She responded in such a rude, dismissive way that we were left speechless. We returned this morning in hopes of finding fresh strawberries. We had already been to Walmart and Food Lion and found that not a single package was without old or even moldy berries. My wife was busy sifting through berry display when she nearly slipped on smashed blueberries on the floor. When she found what we thought were at least two good packages, she popped off the unsealed lid and looked closer down into the center of the package to unfortunately find hidden mold on the bottom of the middle berry. At this moment the aforementioned associated approached us and said "Don't open my berries! Now I have to take them off the shelf!". She continued to carry-on with snide comments under her breath. My wife lost her temper with her immediately, she felt targeted because now it was the second time that this woman was noticeably aggressive and rude with her. Sadly in these times we question if race played a role. I interjected and said " ma'am, it is unprofessional to speak to a customer like that". We escalated the matter to her manager. I sincerely hope that nothing like this happens to anyone else just trying to buy fruit for...
Read moreI lovewhat the store sells, but who ever designed the place, set up your checkout, and picked that location didn't have your best interest in mind. To say its very chaotic is a understatement, after almost getting hit in the parking lot trying to find a parking spot, and navigate pass the cars parked improperly you then have to walk on the sidewalks that are not wide enough for two people let alone a cart, yet management has merchandise set out on them. Then you come into the store and its just a zoo. They have a checkout sitting right next to the door for flowers, and don't try to pay for produce or something else there. And you don't even know if people are in line or looking at the merchandise spread out on the floor. Stuff is all over the floor, I've seen people trip over things, run into with the carts. Its just a mess. I've given up, they been there over a year and it has not gotten any better. If they moved to a better location and ORGANIZE I might be back. Yes the prices are cheap, but my sanity isn't worth saving a few bucks. I'll go to Lowes, they have organized stores, easy parking and marked checkout lanes you can pay for anything. And I've noticed that no management ever responds to comments on here, Guess they don't care. I would think they get complaints all the time...
