I love Pirate O's so much, it feels like a place tailor-made for me. The coolest thing is that it's just sitting smack dab in the middle of an unassuming suburban neighborhood. Blink and you'll miss it.
This store has all sorts of cool stuff! Grab a basket when you get inside, you're gonna need it. Here are some of the neat-o finds I've purchased over the years: original strawberry BB Bats taffy, super spicy pineapple hot sauce, Italian olive oil, chopsticks shaped like a T-Rex, a Sylvia Plath stuffed doll, vomit-flavored jellybeans, imported gingerbread from Germany, local creamery cheese curds, a miniature Christmas train set, atheist-themed mints, a butter sculpture shaped like a rabbit, a coffee mug that changes color, a pirate hat, a kitty cat flour sack towel, a dress-up Jesus magnet, sugar free vanilla soda, lemon flavored lip balm, and so much more!
The real reason to come here is if you love candy. Pirate O's has an amazing selection! They import candies and other goods from all over the world, and you will likely find what you want here. I can't even list all the stuff they carry: toys, games, trinkets, pasta, sauces, home goods...the list goes on and on. I could easily spend hours just browsing here. The shelves are packed full with all sorts of good stuff.
Do take note of the expiration date before you buy. With such a well-stocked store, employees can sometimes miss things and you'll buy an out-of-date item. Another pet peeve of mine is that while they carry an impressive selection of craft sodas, there are only a handful of sugar free or diet flavors.
It goes without saying that Pirate O's is one of the best places in the world for gift shopping. They have gag gifts, useful gifts, and gifts that will suit any taste and budget. If you can't find something here that a person will love, then there is no pleasing that person!
One of life's simple pleasures to me is grabbing an artisan soda off the shelves, popping it open, and sitting outside on the store's front porch on a lovely Utah summer afternoon. You can also grab snacks at the deli or even candies, cheese, and more to enjoy on property. Their parking lot is all dirt and the store ain't fancy, but it's a Utah icon. This is a must-stop if you're...

I live roughly 50 minutes away from Pirate Ohs, so I try to make my trips out here worth the drive. I'll start off by saying I love this store and all of the awesome things I've had the opportunity to try over the last couple of years. I enjoy making the trip out there to get a lot of snacks I would never be able to try otherwise.
One of the first few trips I made out there, I asked a worker if they took product requests (obviously within reason), and inquired about a different flavor of HERO brand jam (a brand that you already stock multiple flavors of). The worker told me you guys happily take requests and do your best to get the items people ask about, especially if they're similar in stock to what you already have. That was over a year ago and I've seen multiple shipments of HERO jam come in, but none of the flavor which I put a request in for.
Later on, I found a Milka brand candy bar I enjoyed: the Bunte Kakaolinsen bar. I saw at one point that you stopped selling it. So, I reached out to your store via email, via Facebook, and in-person about a product request for the bar: because I was interested in purchasing multiple whole-boxes of it.
I never recieved a return email, never recieved a facebook message back, and have never again seen the bars come in---despite your workers telling me in-person, and over the phone, that you were going to be receiving shipments of it soon.
I then tried asking my questions via the Facebook comment sections of your recent posts (some posted within the last 10 minutes), because I figured that may be easiest to reach the page---after no response for over 6 months.
I've never once recieved a reply to any comment or question I've made to your store about product requests. I find that disappointing. Especially because your workers claimed to me on multiple occasions that you happily took them, and what I requested was nothing new or out-sourced.
If you can't take requests, that is fine: but you shouldn't...
Read moreThe most unique grocery store ever -it has been there much longer than CA imports. A trip around the world with culinary specialties. My two girls went to grab my latte, a Boba and Hot chocolate while my mom and I started in the mixer section today, the best cherries, unique cocktail onions and pickles, stuff you can't find any where else. Round the corner to the hot sauce wall, which led to the ready-made Indian curries and other deliciousness. Round the bend to English jams and jellies, honey, the Thai and Japanese section behind us. Then their chocolate from all over the world (I am partial to the beautifully wrapped small German chocolates) and candies you don't see anymore. The cooler has AMAZING gourmet cheeses, butter, clotted cream, pickles and English Crumpets. Specialty knackwursts, Kolbasa, salami and REAL frankfurters. Their cold beer and soda selection is unbelievable. They have a pasta room, pasta, gourmet sauces, canned Italian tomatoes, even tomato paste in a tube! Their backroom is filled to the brim with delights from every corner of the globe. German mustard, anchovy paste in a tube too! Cookies from Holland, Germany, the UK. Unique and gourmet spices I have only seen there, Utah Salt, Himalayan salt, and pink salt chunks that come with a grater, salt flakes, etc. Oh, and the staff is really friendly and...
