My friend and I shared 2 items from the menu, the Prosciutto and Arugula pizza, and the Street Corn Dip. Both were really good. The balance of flavors and textures in the Street Corn was amazing and it was the highlight of the meal. The bread served with the dip was really good in both texture and flavor.
The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 for food is the menu description for the pizza said there were apple slices on the pizza, and the bites with the apple, prosciutto and arugula were amazing. The problem for me was only 1 out of the 3 slices on my half had any apple slices. (Same for my friend's 3 slices.) Strangely, I ate the two without any apples first and enjoyed them not even realizing something was missing, but when I had the first bite of the slice that had the apple on it, I remembered why we had ordered that pizza in the first place. The sweetness of the apple slice is the perfect balance to the bitterness of the arugula and the saltiness of the prosciutto. It really is a great bite. It just needed more consistency.
The service was a bit challenging. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly. A little too quickly in fact as the benches of our booth were wet (which we didn't realize until we sat down) and the table was still dripping. When I stood up and asked if the server could wipe the benches and table dry, she made a half-hearted attempt and apologized saying her already damp cloth was all she had. I finally decided to use the cloth napkin to wipe the table and benches myself. Also, the plate on my side of the table had food residue on it.
The server assigned to our table greeted us promptly and asked for drink orders. As we only wanted water and hadn't decided what to order, she said she would give time and come back. I'm not sure how long she was gone, but it was long enough to make us wonder if. Once the order was in, it took a bit longer than expected for the food to arrive.
The atmosphere was noisy. The "background" music was so loud my friend and I had to raise our voices to hear each other across the table.
All in all, when the food arrived, I was glad we had chosen to eat there and if I lived closer, I would definitely order again, it would just be take out to avoid the issues with wet tables and...
Read moreUnfortunately, I have to say I'm disappointed. After quite some time of Oak Wood fire being our dining place of choice, tonight was too many misses in a row.
First, our fries. They actually came out perfect, seasoning cooking and all. The problems came with our entrees, most notably the first Nashville we got was completely unburnt and inedible. We sent it back, and sadly the second one was basically the same. We were told cooking it any less resulted in a raw center. Do they only have one frier at an ungodly hot temperature? In theory you could pound the chicken breast out thinner before cooking as well..
My mother ate it, though it wasn't great. Our two margarita pizzas were soggy and had to be eaten with forks.
We had a glass come out broken, with a crack running from the rim on one side to the base, then to the rim on the other. Our waitress quickly took it back and replaced it after notifying her.
Desert. We got both the cookie and the donut holes. The cookie was FANTASTIC in every sense of the word- but the donut holes were rock hard and inedible. Half of one should be somewhere near Jupiter by now by the way it launched when we tried to cut it.
We just decided to take the check and get out of there and home for the night. Turns out that may have been a mistake too, as without our realizing we were charged for the wrong bill. Thankfully it was caught as we walked out the door, but we had to stay behind from the rest of our group to ensure it was paid.
The piles of what seemed like garbage outside the window from the front lobby didn't really help that wait, either.
Our waitress was lovely. Despite everything that went wrong, she still did her best to make it right. Sadly, tonight's experience makes a hard plea for us to go back. Chalk it up to workers rotating through a rapidly changing landscape. Maybe we'll try again, in a few months.
Thank you, for...
Read moreOverall, a very positive experience. The service was good; decent selection of beer. The pizza was really good, however, a little heavy on the cheese, but good none the less. The pasta seemed fresh/handmade, however, it was a bit bland, but cooked nicely. This is definitely the best pizza I've had since I've moved here in July. There is so much to love about this place, they really do care and put in the effort. Take what I say (the negative) with a grain of salt, my wife and I are both chefs, so our standards are extremely high. This place is legit, I'll be coming back. I'd also highly recommend it, which is saying a lot.
UPDATE - I took my wife and kids here last night for my birthday...the worst dining experience we've ever had. It took 10 minutes for the server to address us. She was pretty rude and inattentive. We got our apps in a decent time..and they were not bad. They brought my burger out before any of my families food. 15 minutes after they brought out my burger..which I didn't touch because I'm not eating while my wife and kids go hungry, the server asked if we were okay. I asked her if they could just bring me a new burger when the rest of the food was ready. She said okay and took it away. 5 minutes later they brought my son's sandwich..and THE SAME burger back out. Then we waited another 15 minutes for my wife's food. Then we had to wait another 15 minutes for my 11 year old daughters pasta. I never even ate my burger because I knew it was the same burger that had been sitting around for an hour at this point...and it was well done when it was supposed to be rare. All of the food was bland...the service was absolutely terrible...and the server was rude. I'll never come back..and I suggest you...
