In an effort to be transparent, my former review is going to remain below. That said, I’m changing this from 1 to 5 stars.
After posting my negative experience at CPR, the manager Jacob reached out to me personally, after hours, and was persistent yet respectful in follow up. He wanted to make things right and took accountability. He did not badger me or ask me to change the review, but was responsive to my criticisms by calling with updates, leaving messages, etc. it was a fantastic example of the customer service I hope they implement store-wide. He was proactive, professional and left us as happy customers. I remain slightly chagrined that they are not more clear about how third-party repairs will void an Apple warranty, but that is equally Apples problem.
My lasting impression is that CPR cares about their customers and is willing to go the extra mile to make sure everyone is happy.
Old review:
I’m I brought my iPad 11 Pro into this Dubuque CPR location 3 months ago (roughly) and had the cracked glass screen repaired. It was quick and smooth. I brought the iPad home that day and promptly dropped it again...ugh!
Anyhow, the second time the screen display itself broke despite the glass being fine, and I brought it back to CPR....
They told me the screen could not be replaced without a $400!!! battery replacement due to "bulging" batteries.
I used this iPad for about 15 minutes between their first repair and when it broke again...then it lay unused until I brought it back to CPR...So how were these bulged batteries not noticed the first time? How is an $80 part being charged at $400 for them to install? Why wasn't their warranty brought up at all during my two visits on this issue?
I'm giving the whole experience a 1 star review because: CPR does not notify you it will void your Apple Care when they use third party parts (they actually didn't notify that they were going to use third party parts at all) CPR missed my "bulged batteries" the first time, or made it up the second time. CPR charges $400 to install $80 batteries. Source: iFixit The durability of their third party screen...
Read moreWent in to fix my IPhone, mentioned how I have had it fixed before but I was ripped off and take advantage of at multiple places. They tried to have me buy an entirely new phone because it would be “cheaper” than fixing mine, I ended deciding to just buy a screen and battery for $156. Once I left screen would not work, I took it into batteries and bulbs and they had a look and mentioned it was the screen. Turned out the screen I was sold did not work and had defects. Quick Phix made it seem it like it was the phone and not the screen. I get it with business trying to make money but when they screw people over that’s what I find to be bogus. Bulbs only charged $85 for the screen too, $40 less than quick phix. I was refunded only $101 due to them not using their deal on the refund, should’ve been $121 but it’s whatever.
Just wanted to update my review, although I was let down. I realized that the owner actually cares for his business and is a good guy. He did take care of me. At the end of the day I just wanted to get what I paid for, not any special treatment and after everything that is what I received. I appreciate how he did take the time out to reach me and try to help. Shows a lot about this individual. I was reassured about this business in a professional way and realized what their real goals are. If anyone does run into a problem with this company ever and you see my review, take my word for it and give them a second chance and let them know. They will take you into consideration and try to fix the problem and give you what you paid for. Like Adam said, nobody is perfect and mistakes do happen. So I suggest giving them a...
Read moreI have taken in multiple phone over the past few years for broken screens, water submerges, etc. They've never been a try one thing and then try to upsell you place - they will do their absolute best to get you back on the road with the phone you came in with. Each time I have been taken care of with the upmost care and professionalism. Something you would not necessarily expect at a Cell Phone Repair place with a bunch of young guys working is the great deal of empathy where they could have been disinterested. They instead, over multiple visits, exemplified great customer service and patience while trying to retrieve all my family photos and videos that hadn't uploaded to iCloud. Thank you again to Cell Phone Repair Dubuque - I am so...
