Excellent Place to catch "White grunts/Mutton Snappers", all of them will usually just be around 3 to 5 inches long, baby size. I caught a lot of them on frozen dead shrimp, using just the heads and tails and not the middle section of the shrimp because these little guys have small and sharp mouths and can easily clean your bait right off of your hook within seconds of it hitting the water. Also, I suggest using a small size hook, something in the size range of #1 or less, you might be able to use a small freshwater "worm hook" that you would normally use for Sunfish or Bluegill. And use a 1/8 size "tear drop" weight as well so that you can feel them bite, plus I timed it, it took only 6 seconds after my bait hitting the water and I would get a real quick strike and then that would be it, my hook was picked clean. When I was fishing here on Saturday July 15, 2023 around 2pm, I was fishing at the end of the pier and casting straight out towards the west. Good luck everyone, and I will be back next year in July with my family for our annual...
Read moreWeaver Park is a great place that the entire family can enjoy. The park boasts paved walking trails, making it easier to navigate for those with a cane, walker or wheelchair. Lots of trees provide natural shade from the hot Florida sun. There are a couple pavilions with picnic tables, along with charcoal park-style grills, so your family can enjoy a picnic lunch. After you've had fun at the park, make your way to the pier across the street, where you can see all kinds of marine life. We see all kinds of birds, crabs, dolphins, fish, and manatees, there's something new each time we go there. This is also a great spot to watch some of the most magnificent sunsets!
Whether you've lived here for years like us, or it is your first visit to our beautiful little slice of paradise, you owe it to yourself to take in all that Weaver Park...
Read moreWe love this park! There always seem to be a good number of kids there but its never felt crowded. Thre is plenty of places for grown ups to sit and watch their kiddos. The play equipment is top notch, and there are shady areas for not getting quite as hot.
Our only complaint was the parking, but they justfixed the entrance malong it much much better getting in and out.
Its right next to a cute little bike/walking path that goes right into the heart of Dunedin, and just across the road is a nice little peer you can walk onto. So its more than just the playground.
The only reason I don't say 5 star is because I am not sure what the bathrooms are like. They are pretty from removed from all play stuff so its a little less convenient if your watching...
