I always enjoyed shopping at Ace Hardware in Dunedin, Fl. They have unusual items that are so neat. However, I purchased a T-Shirt from them 2 days ago, I wasn't sure if it was going to fit so I kept the receipt & left the tags on like we always do. The shirt was to small so I took it back to exchange it for a size up. Lucky me, they had 2 of the size I needed left. Then come to find out I couldn't return it or exchange it. The cashier said "NO-RETURNS ON SALE ITEMS." So I explained had I been told that I wouldn't have bought it. Tags were still on receipt in my hand & No damage to the shirt. Supervisor also said No as I explained No one told me that & there was No sign. Manager said No. I then called cooperate. I spoke to 3 people then a supervisor who come to find out was back at the store in dunedin, fl. Mind you now, this manager has a tiff with me do to an incident a couple mths ago. What do you think she's going to say when she calls ms back??đ. Now Ace Hardware has a 1 on my scale of 1-10 I've always raved about Ace Hardware. No More. At least not the one in Dunedin, Fl. OH, and I've been a member for almost 10 yrs.
**with assistance of the manager, that issue above was resolved happily. Kudos to you James!!
However, 2 yrs later, again I find myself in a situation (I believe with the same supervisor) where I purchased itemson my debit card but the cashier was having trouble putting back into my account so she called for the supervisor . The supervisor did nothing but say "issue her a store credit." No, I want it back in my account or cash. I see no problem there. Obviously, I got a store credit that i didn't want.. This is incredibly unbelievable ! So my scale drops again to a 1. In These time, people just seem to be nasty as they can be when there is just no need. Good luck dealing with the supervisor...
Read moreHow do they stay in business?? I was in the store a little over a month ago to have keys made. They made two keys for us and we tried to use them but they did not work. We went back to the store 30 minutes after purchasing the keys to get them redone, but they were without power in the store and couldn't run the machine. We stopped in the store on two other occasions to have the keys remade, but they never had the correct key in stock and didn't know when they would have them. We were in the store today and they finally had the correct keys. When we went to the register to swap out the keys, they wanted us to pay the difference in the base cost of the keys. This is despite the fact that they sold us the wrong keys in the first place, and we had to come back to the store three times before they had the correct key in stock. When we explained all of the above and how much time we wasted on going back and forth to their store, they said there's nothing they would do because there was still a difference in the cost of the keys. I asked them if they were willing to lose loyal customers to their store over a difference of $1.50? They said yes, I am still responsible for the difference. I explained that I would not pay the difference given the circumstances. They returned my money for the faulty keys, and they have four keys they cannot sell. Now, they are out $7 instead of just the $1.50 it would have taken to keep me coming back. Why would you treat customers this way when it was your store that made the error in the first place? I will never be back to spend money in any of the...
Read moreStopped in to this location as it is super convenient. Had to have a car key made. Funniest thing ever, the Toyota key did not work in the car. It was rough around the edges so I gave it few tries and it worked. Then it would not work. Realized it had something to do with unlocking and locking the car. Regardless, I could not depend on the key to work so I returned it. They replaced it with a plastic key similar to the one I had but had tried to avoid since it was the Toyota key kind that was plastic and prone to break, this one worked fine. While I was there I decided to replace the key fob so I ordered it and paid for it on the pretense they were going to install it since I had tried myself and had failed. It took a couple weeks for the key fob to be delivered, and It came the day they said. Steve (the key-maker) made an appointment with me and when I arrived he was right there to get the key fob installed. Turns out there is a problem with my car being so old, etc, and I knew it would be an issue as I had tried this myself, and I knew the key fob was altogether different from the original one I had received when the car was purchased. Nonetheless, STEVE stayed outside in the parking lot for 1 whole hour trying to get it to work, he even called the manufacturer, etc. I was given a refund, but was totally satisfied that he had tried as hard as possible. His persistence did not get the alarm to work but it surpassed the call of duty. I give this store a big fat "10" for customer...
