Great botanical gardens that go around the library. There are many informative signs to educate yourself about what is going on in each section of the garden. Easy paved path that goes around the whole gardens. We came in the winter and can't wait to visit again to see everything in season and blooming. It is free to visit this garden as well.

I’ve never been to a city botanic gardens that is free and also gorgeous!! Wonderful large parking lot with some shaded areas to take a break. Amazing trails and gardens right by the river. Also a library with a coffee shop right by the entrance to the gardens. Would highly recommend!

What an amazing place. This volunteer managed garden is in a perfect location around the library, next to the river and river trail. On Saturday morning they have lots of folks out weeding and pruning. If you are in the Durango area visiting, make sure you check this out.

This is a beautiful place to visit in the winter. I loved walking across the bridge that overlooks the river and reading about the history of the railroad and one of Durango's famous families. There are wildlife centers off the beaten path that I look to checking it in summer. One of my favorite things about these gardens is that they are right in the middle of town at the end of Main Ave and if you walk far enough there is a path to the Durango...

Very nice area just outside the library and the city is adding a few more items. Someone painted a very nice huge mural on a wall of the parking lot with all sorts of different flowers and their names. Of course the library also looks out to more flowers and a hike/bike/walking path along the Animas river, which is also along the Durango-Silverton train tracks! The hike path goes...

Great job to those who maintain this. Its very beautiful. Everytime someone comes upon this location when doing a nice walk they can't help but stop and have a look around and some even feel compelled to take a photo or two and relax some. Well this is what I observe when I bring visitors around. This is where I always come across chipmunks...
