Mountain Cinemas — Attraction in East Ellijay

This is a great movie theater... I have been here 2x where the card reader has been "down or offline" i understand that happens with technology obviously, BUT the young male manager or shift leader just looked annoyed and walked away from his two other employees leaving us stuck standing there with the movie about to start.. the one boy who was ringing us up originally seemed to be the only one who was concerned that we were about to miss some of the movie.. also the shift leader or whatever he was didn't offer to let us watch the movie and then come out and pay once he had it back up and running we had to scramble to find cash or either just leave it was very awkward and stressful also Noone else was behind us so I don't know if that made it seem like we could just stand there while they try to just look at the screen once again it's not the employees fault it's the manager for putting them in that situation . Another issue I get really annoyed when I just simply go to Google to see what's going to be playing and it doesn't come up and the other Ellijay movie theater comes up as well as Canton and Woodstock and one on Barrett Parkway. This is August now I don't understand how it's not fixed.. when you go to the website you have to select the Ellijay location and it just seems like it's a hassle when there's other places all you have to do is say OK Google and the name of the place and it gives you the list from the main Google page. About the same as Studio Movie Grill. With the exception of the fact that there's no way to order food/drinks from your seat. Also, because it's in the mountains of north Georgia, the staff are MUCH nicer.

That said, while everything is new and clean, it kinda felt like we were at a soft-opening. It's clear that some of the design elements haven't yet been installed and that they're still working on the basics, like menus (the little fast-food restaurant had a paper menu).

I had a drink from the bar and my wife got some popcorn and soda. Everything was good and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the bar keeps some of Merciers Cider on tap. Although, it was one of about two options on tap. Also, prices are quite disproportionate to the average income of local populace. I can understand if it were in Palm Beach but, it ain't, y'all {cue banjo}. Prices need to be adjusted by, at least, 25% across the board.

No doubt there will be a few tourists who wouldn't bat an eyelash at those prices but, many of these local businesses forget that people come to visit this area partly because of the affordability compared to vacationing somewhere with more amenities. We don't have a Disney World or something else to draw people in. All we really have to offer is the natural beauty of the mountains, friendly southern charm and affordable rentals... or,...
