My husband and I just stayed in this brand new (open two months) hotel on our first trip to Ellijay. Since it is a mountain town, I think most people stay in cabins when they visit, but we were just there for a quick weekend getaway and chose to stay in a Marriot property. The fact that this hotel was exactly where we wanted to be and brand new were the deciding factors for us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, convenient place to stay and would consider it if I returned to the area.||We mostly stay in Fairfield Inns when we stay in a Marriot, but we have stayed in one other Springhill Suites in New Jersey. (I reviewed that one also.) This one compares favorably to that one. First, the good things: This hotel is brand new and super clean. The staff is professional, helpful, and very friendly. We spoke to several, and they all seemed happy to be working there, which is always a good sign. The hotel is located conveniently off a major road and near restaurants, a CVS pharmacy, and a movie theater. The beds are extremely comfortable as are the pillows, which seem to me to be the Achilles heel of many otherwise lovely hotels. The breakfast choices are varied, the food is yummy, and the breakfast area is large, comfortable, and spotlessly clean as a staff member was busily working to keep it that way the entire time we were there.|The fitness room was spacious and well-equipped. We had quiet nights and heard zero road noise as the only loud sound we could hear from our room was the sound of the very heavy room doors closing along the hall way. (Hotel room doors are very heavy, and these tend to want to bang shut a bit.)||There are just a few, minor negatives to mention. With this hotel being what it is, it lacks any sort of "mountain charm" some folks might want when they are in a mountain town. The surroundings include fast food and chain stores and restaurants, so there is nothing unique about the property. That didn't bother us because we were seeking the reliability of the corporate experience, but others might want to choose a different type of property. When I made the reservation, I could choose between rooms with a "mountain view" or "city view," and I must say that is a bit misleading. I chose a "city view" to save a few bucks, but my husband and I agreed we could not tell which side of the hotel was which. Some large hills are visible on both sides of the hotel. The front side faces more businesses, but the back side faces a large movie theater, some kind of office building, and a lot that sells prefabricated outbuildings, so I would not say there is a true "mountain view" out any window. The suite itself seemed significantly smaller than the ones at the previous Springhill we'd stayed in, and I though the rate was a bit high though it was pretty good for the mountains. (The room was about $200 per night, so with taxes it was over $450 for two nights, and I'm pretty sure I could have gotten a small cabin for that or saved at least $50 per night at the Comfort Inn next door.)The final issue was an inconvenience that we noticed in another brand new hotel we stayed in a few months ago, that one an IHG property. The hot water was incredibly slow. It took several minutes of the water running to get any hot water in the shower or sink. I suspect that is some sort of energy-saving thing, but it certainly wastes a lot of water to wait that long for it to heat up. The water pressure was good, though.||So my overall impression is very positive. To be able to stay in a brand new hotel with very comfortable beds and wonderful staff is an opportunity many travelers will not...
Read moreRoom was nice and breakfast was mediocre. Service left a lot to be desired when it came to being billed for the incidental room charge in error. Charge for $166 was pending and was supposed to drop off, but never did and has posted to my card. Billing dispute submitted through Marriott Bonvoy was closed out despite the hotel GM, Courtney Hatcher, not taking accountability for the charge and telling me I need to dispute through my credit card company. It's absurd to me that they're unable to refund me this charge. I have reopend the dispute through Marriott and am still waiting for this issue to be...
Read moreIf you're planning on staying in the Jasper/Ellijay/Blue Ridge area, look no further. By far the best hotel in this area. The beds and pillows are so comfortable, the rooms are spacious and well appointed, the complimentary breakfast is delicious and plentiful and there are plenty of restaurants very close to choose from. They also have a nice outdoor pool out back with a shower and a spacious outdoor sitting area out front with a fire pit. We visit this area frequently and this is the only hotel we will stay at...
