Clairemont Comics — Attraction in Eau Claire

Very disappointed in how we were treated!! The very first guy when we walked in was very nice. As we all split up and looked around, the rest of the people were all playing some kind of game. One person in our group was sitting an empty table with stuff another in our group was going to buy, when another group of people came over and put their stuff down and just shoved our stuff over!! Extremely rude group talking loudly about her bloody urinary tract infection, so feeling very brushed off, the rest of our group decided to not purchase not only what was on the table but also a few very expensive graded comics they were planning to purchase!! Being we were PAYING CUSTOMERS, treated so poorly we left!! We will DEFINITELY not EVER drive the 2 hours to go...

I heard great things about the store and staff, but felt like I wasn’t wanted in there when I asked for info and availability on a specific comic. The worker just sat there, said they didn’t know, and stared at me wary and disdainful until I left the store. Was treated like I walked into someone’s house and intruded upon a private discussion they were having.

The impression I get is that they are friendly to those they can tell are big hobbyists, but newcomers and those who are clearly ignorant about comics aren’t given the time of day. Still check them out, it could’ve just been a bad day for the 1 worker I encountered and it's worth supporting local hobby shops, especially one with a great selection. The only real game store in EC as far as I can tell. Updating my review after being back a few times: The store staff are very friendly and helpful, which is all too rare with local game stores around the country. A lot of game and comic shops ignore you unless you ask for help. I'm always greeted when I come in usually asked if I'm looking for something particular. On my last visit they gave me a free beverage for purchasing over $50 worth, apparently a new perk. It'd be nice if they had a greater selection of D&D minis, but I realize I'm there for one niche and they cater to a wide range of hobbies in a limited amount of space. Definitely a good store that I hope can some day expand to a larger space to carry more product without cluttering...
