Volume Up Karaoke — Attraction in Edgewater

I wish I didn’t have to rate this place so low, but it’s the second time I’ve been here and this is the first time I’ve had this issue. Came here and had a great time with friends. We had set a reservation a week before and it was smooth sailing the day of. We went from 7p-11p. We were a small party of 11, we cleaned the room up as best as we could afterwards to make their job easier… the worst part was what came at the end. The receptionist asked us how many people were in our group, to which I had said 11. I went over the names of everyone who was in the room with us and it kept totaling to 11. The receptionist said “oh really? Because I counted 14.” I went over the names again and we were at 11 people. The receptionist wanted to settle at 13 people and tried charging me $300.. after seeing that I was getting frustrated he said “okay how about we settle for 12 people… no bad review right?” 12 people cost $298! I originally wasn’t going to post a review until I had spoken to one of the people I was with that night and said they had gone about 2 weeks ago and the same thing happened to them. There were 6 people and were getting charged for 8 people. Please be careful! Made an appointment two weeks in advance and they called me an hour before my time to tell me it was canceled. They said since we didn’t confirm a text message (that we didn’t see since it was filtered from an unrecognized number) they canceled it. I asked why they didn’t call and leave a message and they just said sorry, we gave away your spot. My suggestion, only go if you plan on going right away otherwise you clearly can’t guarantee a spot with a reservation.

They claim they called “hours” before and included some random times to make it look official. Like I mentioned above, the only call we got was an hour before our designated time to let us know they canceled our reservations. They clearly had a walk in and figured that was a more guaranteed offer because when I told them I booked a while ago, they said they sorry, they already gave away our spot. I checked my missed calls and voice mail messages and didn’t have any from them . They clearly don’t honor advance bookings so book at your own risk. Thankfully, there are dozens of other locations in the area and it worked out in our benefit as they were $80 cheaper than this establishment. I’d suggest if you want to book, just walk into the location, they’ll probably give up someone else’s spot...

Place is clean and staff is somewhat friendly, due to traffic most of our group was late, tried to push start time forward half-hour only to be told NO as they had another party due in at 10:00. Low and behold when I asked at 9:45 how much for an hour overtime they quickly threw a number at me.. guess the 10:00 cancelled... It is a great spot for a good time with your family and friends. Don't waste your time and money on Pizza from downstairs, horrible. Also, make sure to bring your own glasses as they charge $10.00 for 5 cups, total friggin rip-odf. We did have a good time, ...
