Been a member for 6 months. Signing up was straight forward and the gym floor equipment is what you'd expect. No complaints.
Restrooms seem fine but i don't know about the showers or the lockers. Custodians routinely wipe down the equipment and take out the trash. They leave sanitizing wipes or spray bottles to clean for our personal peace of mind. They also have childcare which my sister uses for my niece and they're good with children at this location compared to the negative experience she had at the TruFit on East University location.
When i joined, I was encouraged by a group of friends to join and work out with them as a group. One of them whose been a member for a decade and another who is a brother in law who was employed by the company as a personal trainer.
The only thing i would warn other NEW Gym members who sign up is to watch out for Trainers walking the floor. If they know you're new to the gym you'll have them circling around you waiting to approach you during a workout. If you look lost or it seems you might be using the machinery wrong, or whatever they'll take the opportunity to strike conversation and pivot into their sales pitch for training sessions which can be step from my understanding.
I don't say that this is how all the trainers behave, I just want to put this out there. And I have nothing against someone who is trying to earn. However, don't approach me like i'm some sort of prey that you can target with a sales pitch with a touch of smugness, which was my experience. There was a trainer who my friend group noticed that did a double take when he passed me and knew that i was a new member and smirked. Eventually he tried to make small talk when i used one of the machines but i had my headphones on. My buddy who was doing dead lifts noticed the interaction attempt and told me but i was oblivious. This went on for several weeks until the trainers gave up and look for other new members. I'll be frank and say i wanted to work out and be left alone and every time one of the trainers walked by i would stop my work out and at times i wanted to leave early. I saw several of the trainers eye balling new members and interrupting their work outs to critique what they were doing which was off putting to me.
Again, if you want to take on a trainer and can afford it, by all means. It be a lot better if the gym would instead pitch training session when members sign up or offer to book an appointment with a trainer to map out the details and discuss brass tax or hand them a business card to contact one. Not have trainers wonder around aimlessly hitting up new members during the middle...

I started off my workouts midday when I first signed up last year but because the schedule changes at my job I had to go in early in the mornings for workouts. before I had the luxury of working out for several hours but now I am forced to try and get my work out done in an hour.
ever since I signed to TruFit, this was the second time that I was interrupted in the middle of a set by a trainer. This most recent encounter I was approached at the lat pull down machine and I could tell the trainer was new and I tried to be civil and heard him out as he attempted a sales pitch. I turned him down and thanked him for the offer but he persisted with a free body scan after I had explained to him that I had to go to work and I was just trying to get a quick workout done.
I noticed that the same trainer had approached another gentleman who was at the treadmill and the member had to pause his treadmill machine to talk to the trainer as he made his sales pitch to him.
I realize that Not all of us are fit like some of the long time members who are basically shredded that occupy the free weights section of the gym. This is when it became obvious that they're profiling gym members of a certain body type and attempting to get them to sign up for a training session. there's nothing wrong with trying to do your job but perhaps there's a better time and place to do that. If anything, try when members sign up for gym memberships, they should have trainers, introduce themselves or handout business cards for their services. But don't encourage your trainers to aggressively approach gym members especially in the middle of a workout.
If this is how trainers are going to approach gym members, it makes me not want to go to the gym at all. I also noticed another trainer poaching a gym member in the free weights area looking at their barbell and the plates that they had stacked but walked away. The gym member had an awkward expression with that strange encounter.
Truth be told, I don't want to stop coming to the gym so I'm actually looking to invest in a pair of headphones...
Read moreBeen a customer since Freedom Fitness. Was working up north and I got my debit card compromised at a merchant, which was not my fault. My bank was sending me a new card. Jacob from Trufit called me at the end of May to ask about the payment. Told him the situation and he understood. I told him since I’m not in the valley and since I’m no longer in a contract, to cancel the subscription. He said he couldn’t cancel it until the balance (20 something dollars) was paid. He said that when I got the card to call him and that he’ll cancel it right away. He knew I was going to get charged again in the beginning of June and did not tell me anything about that. So, i get the card about a week later and i call to make the payment. He then proceeds to tell me I owe 50 something dollars for the month of June, may, and late fees. I asked him why he didn’t tell me i was going to get charged again in the beginning of June when i spoke to him. He said he’s sorry and that he doesn’t see where he spoke to me on the account and that the 2 months and late fees had to be paid to close the account, no exceptions. After a 10 minute hold he tells me he can waive the late fee but I’m still going to be responsible to pay the month of July since they need a 30 day notice. I was stunned. I couldn’t believe them. I argued that I’ve been telling him since May to cancel the account and he kept apologizing until he told me he won’t charge me for July (so they don’t need a 30 day notice) but i would have to pay the late fees after all. I gave up and I agreed. I feel like I’m still going to get charged for July anyways because he didn’t sound reassuring. After so many years with them I’d never thought they would do something like this to me. They just want to squeeze every penny they can from you when you want your account canceled. And that’s because I was on the month to month, I could just imagine what the people on a contract have to deal with. Take this as a warning. NEVER do business...
