Joe is dishonest under pressure. I have used Joe to frame about a dozen items for me in the past. From diplomas, certificates, and even a collector NFL Jersey. While Joe does not usually deliver when promised, he does do good work and I have always been pleased with the results. Since I was aware of his propensity to under estimate his completion time, I dropped off an item in October that I wanted reframed for a Christmas gift. He said that it would be ready in three weeks. I checked after three weeks and of course it was not ready. I checked back every week or so after that and then more regularly as it got closer to Christmas. The item I wanted reframed was a picture of my recently deceased dad's patches from all the units he served with in his 33 year military career. The original frame was old and falling apart. The glass was not good and the whole picture had water damage from Hurricane Harvey in 2017. I was having the patches re framed to give to my adult son for Christmas as a memento from his recently deceased grandfather. I told Joe that I wanted it reframed identical to the original because I did not know if there was any significance to the order of the patches in the original picture. The first few weeks in December, when I checked on the progress of the framing, I got the impression that Joe was hurrying to get it done for me. Which is nice. But he still did not make it in time for me to mail it for Christmas. When the picture was finally completed on December 18th, I was very pleased with the results. It was well done and looked very nice. I specifically asked Joe if the patches were in the same order as in the original picture and he assured me they were. So I paid and left. When I got home, I noticed that the new picture was NOT the same as the original picture. The patches were not in the same order as the original. Upon closer examination, I noticed that one of the patches was missing. (The fourth one from the left on the bottom row in the original picture). It is evident that all the patches up until the missing patch are in the same place as in the original, but when you get to where the missing patch was supposed to be, all the rest are all jumbled up and out of order and not in columns and rows like the others. It appeared as if someone was trying to hide the fact that one of the original patches was missing. I went back to the shop the next day to let Joe know that I was disappointed in him because I believed he knowingly lied to me that the patches were in the same order. Joe initially insisted that the patches were in the same order as the original. When I produced photographic evidence (before and after pictures), he offered to fix it. I told him I did not know how he could he "fix it" if one of the patches was missing. He asked me to wait while he looked for the missing patch and after just a minute or two, he found the "missing patch". For which I am very grateful. I believe Joe knew one of the patches was missing and re-arranged the remaining patches to hide the fact that one was missing and then lied to me about it. Joe does good work. He would have had to notice the discrepancy between the original and newly framed picture. I know this is a long review. But I do not take it lightly to accuse someone of dishonesty. I believe that Joe was pressed for time, made a mistake, tried to cover it up and lied to my face about it. Prospective customers can decide for themselves. The one star rating is for dishonesty,...
Read moreI have recently moved back to El Paso TX where I was born. I saw the sign for Art and Framing Gallery. I decided to go in as I am an art collector, particularly of local artists where I live. Within, I found a gold mine of local talent! The day I went in, Danny Padilla, a local artist, was in and I watched him finish up framing two of his pieces. One was an abstract of a guitar in various shades of blue...it was sensational and I bought it to put on the wall behind my baby grand! It was perfect! Danny talked with me as did the owner, Joe Paredes. I also bought a small picture of two pears, by Danny...he has a varied style which is so interesting in an artist! Joe and Danny were both very affable and it only enhanced my experience in this lovely gallery. There are featured many local artists with various styles and venues...all painting their perspective of the local people and their surroundings. The landscapes are truly beautiful and can be easily recognized around town after you see the paintings. There are market scenes, portraits, children, matadors, beautiful local women dressed in the bright colors of the Southwest, some R.C.Gorman, Fernando Flores, Rudy Montoya, Taos pueblos and I could go on and on. I have since purchased eight more pieces and probably will purchase more! This is a small, cozy gallery with no hurrying that is a feast for the eyes and a treasure for your soul. Just stop in and meet Joe...he can do anything you need artwise and his family is sometimes...
