Busse Lake Boating Center — Attraction in Elk Grove Township

I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS IF I COULD! MY HUSBAND AND KIDS LIVES WERE IN DANGER DURING THIS STORM! THEY WERE OUT ON THE LAKE IN A ROW BOAT - NO CALL FROM THE OFFICE THAT A STORM WAS ON ITS WAY. RAIN STARTED HE CALLED THE OFFICE FOR RESCUE HELP STATING HE HAD TWO CHILDREN ON BOARD AND WERE FAR OUT IN THE WATER. THEY SAID THEY ONLY RESCUE IF THE BOAT SINKS! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! IF LIGHTNING STRIKED THE LAKE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD. I AM FURIOUS. HE ROWED AS FAST AS HE COULD HIS HANDS WILL HAVE CALLUS AND BLISTERS FROM FIGHTING THE BIG WAVES, RAIN, AND WIND TO GET OUR CHILDREN TO SAFETY. THIS IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH WITH A STORM OF THIS SIZE. THEY LEFT THEM OUT THERE KNOWING THEY HAD PEOPLE ON THE WATER AND THEY FAILED TO NOTIFY PEOPLE ON THE WATER ABOUT THE INCOMING STORM. FAILED TO HELP RESCUE. FAILED....

Beautiful lake! Once you're on it you forget you're in a Chicago suburb. Rented a kayak today and had a wonderful paddle. Staff was top notch, quick check-in and out on the water in a matter of minutes. So peaceful, beautiful wildlife, plenty of jumping fish! Fellow kayakers and fishermen were polite and kind. Lots of places to explore and get a good workout. Some areas are shallow and have seaweed thaf can be annoying, but most of the lake is a good depth to paddle at a solid pace. Got a good 6 miles in. Beautiful area! Lots of space for all types of activities. Kayaks, canoes, small boats are available for rental at reasonably hourly rates & first come first serve basis. The rental process went smoothly with efficient help from the staff. Life jackets & paddles are provided with rental cost. Pet friendly as well! Be aware, there’s only one entrance to this area and on the day we visited there was a food fest causing lots of traffic to enter/exit so just check ahead for events when...
