Himmel Haus German Food — Attraction in Elkhart

This place has everything from German chocolate and cookies to cheese, sausage, spices and seasonings. They also have one of my personal favorites, banket (Dutch pastry filled with almond paste). And they have some items that make good gifts like teacups or decorations. Lots of hard-to-find items that are really special treats!

I know this area isnt exactly the market for quality german food... But seriously... This place is terrible... It is definitely a mob front. Everything is sun-damaged... Literally everything... Even things toward the back.... The items "for sale" look like they came from an estate sale. It is all second hand. The food is nothing like german food. Youtube some stuff and make your own, dont waste your time at this place. And dont go alone or you may get murdered by the eastern European mafia guys...

I love this store ...it's like being ten years old again with my German mother! Whatever I didn't see on the shelves, when I asked the storekeeper, he said oh yes, I have that... and went and got it for me. The prices are very competitive with mail-order German products and their selection of candy for my grandchildren is excellent!! Definitely worth a trip from Michigan a few...
