NOW ALLOWS DOGS!!! Thank you City of Euclid for letting my best friend visit the park, too! I feel a lot safer and walk more often and therefore stay healthier since I can take my dog.
This place is amazing before, during, or after a storm. You should see the ice sculptures that the trees become, the huge crashing waves, the crazy surfer, and amazing birds nesting on the beach and sitting in the lake. They have added a new path along the beachfront that goes along the shore and have funds for what should be an amazing rec center.
So many things to do at Simms! Children's playground, picture taking, swimming on the beach, pier out to the lake for fishing, restrooms, bike and running and walking path. There is a wide variety of paths, both paved and unpathed. Lots of trees, sand, hills, and level areas. Accessible to all.
There is a beautiful mansion available to rent out.
And my favorite is one guy doing stone statues. Amazing! Just wish others wouldn't destroy them over night. Be sure to go down to the beach and make your own. Take pictures before nature or vandals destroy them.
Simms closes at dusk ... NOT. People are fishing and walking all night long, or just sitting enjoying each other.
Do NOT be one of those idiots making a fire under a tree or dumping out the ashes under the tree. And leave the park cleaner than you found it. Police presence is around or...
Read moreSims Park is a local treasure. It is on the lakefront and former residence of an early wealthy manufacturing leader from the era when Cleveland was a leader in smokestack industrial manufacturing.
However, the grounds are lovely and the trees cover most of the estate as you enter from Lakeshore Blvd. There is a lovely playground area for young kids near the picnic area. Also near by is the Senior Center that always seems to have something to offer.
As one leaves the parking lot and heads toward the lake you will discover both the latest commitment of Euclid City to make our place on the lake something to be very proud of. The lakefront hear offers up three more ways to enjoy the park. First of all is a public beach that offers both lake water access and a large sandy beach !! Secondly is a beautiful peer that extends quite a way into the lake and has many places on it to sit or stand and enjoy the views of the lake and beach and the wonderful cooling breezes of Lake Erie. Finally, there is the paved walkway headed Eastward along the shore. It is the first installment of the city's plans/hopes to open access to much more of its lakefront !
In all it is simply a spectacular place to visit and enjoy the uniqueness of Euclid's location on the lake that is just a walk or...
Read moreAn amazing well kept yet hidden gem of a small park along the lake, complete with a tiny sandy beach and access to clean waters of the lake. Technically no bbq, or swimming allowed (due to no lifeguard), but if you want to just bask in the warm sunshine on a blanket on the sandy beach while listening to the waves wash the shore, this is a perfect spot. If not, then the sparse benches under the trees gives you a quiet place to admire nature in a beautiful environment. The clean public restroom are also not far from the entrance. Parking is somewhat limited, considering the small size of the park. This is definitely a great spot to get away from your busy lifestyle and just breathe, especially if you prefer a quiet spot with less hustle bustle. Great for kids, seniors, and beach goers.
Update they have an awesome disc golf course, great for a group of friends. Well maintained and fun...
