The heart of track and field beats in Eugene. The stadium has undergone a major renovation and while it's easy to miss the historic Hayward Field, the magic of this place is here to stay.
The fans in this stadium deeply understand the sport and their energy elevates every event from the longest distance race to the javelin. The athletes love it and consistently comment on the incredible crowds. It's the reason why so many legendary performances have happened here.
Sit in sections X12-X19 for great views of the first curve and the high jump. Sit in sections X01-X10 to cheer on the back straight, watch the field implements go sailing, or marvel at the pole vault. In sections 129-136 you'll have a front row seats to runners kicking in the last 200 meters. This also seems to be the spot where the most excited fans and athletes/coaches sit. Sections X20-X28 span the home straight so it's the best spot to sit for the triple jump, the long jump, the high hurdles, and the finish line. Beware that the sections on the northeast side from the over hang will be in the direct sun until late in the evening and aren't for the faint of heart on a hot day. Even still, in this one of a kind stadium is built just for athletics there isn't a bad seat...

My first time in the Bizarro Too Much Money Flowing Into Oregon Sports World. Weird Arena. Do what. My biggest complaint is the dumbing down of the fans by the exclusionary seating, viewing, entrance/exit, the nonstop announcer talking at track and field fans like we wandered in from some fraternal order of a corn hole championship drink off. Nonstop music. How idiotic and bored do you think we are. Stop distracting us with the constant barrage of noise. Doubtful I will be back. I ran on this track as an 8 year old. Quarter Mile Cinder track. Yes, change is inevitable. I have been to countless meets here with various configurations of track surface and stadium's add ons. Always enjoyed myself. The Track as presented here is the antithesis of the jumbotron film celebrating Eugene Community supporting running and track. Wire your $&#@ and get it straight. The people who volunteer here are top notch. Aces High....
ย ย ย Read moreVisiting Hayward Field for the Paris Olympic Track and Field Trials was a breathtaking experience that I will always aspire to remember โ a stadium with such grandeur and high seating capacity acted as the ideal hosting site for any spectator to enjoy.
Even with a few hundred (plausible for that number to be a significant understatement) people present, there was near zero complication in getting around from the entrance to our seats. Security is relatively straightforward to traverse through and directories with seating sections are readily accessible as you walk around the outer loop, and there are information desks in case any assistance is required.
Food here is plentiful, affordable, and convenient for about everyone; definitely recommend browsing the food booths that may be available on your visit.
Ultimately a lovely facility and experience for the Olympic Trials โ regardless of the track event being hosted, I implore you to consider...
