So incredibly disappointing... If you are interested in creating or purchasing art, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. I was given a generous gift certificate to Maude Kerns, for a pottery class. I registered for the class and promptly realized there was a schedule conflict. I cancelled within 15 minutes of registering (The class was still completely open and over a month out). Not only did Maude Kerns charge me a $50 cancellation fee, they also charged me for the class! This used the entire gift card as well as some of my own money. Keep in mind, there was no exchange for this payment. I never even got to take a class.
When I went in to talk to them about it, they refused to explain why they had charged me so much and they had no empathy towards the situation. It breaks my heart that there are businesses like this in Eugene, OR.
Maude Kerns, I would encourage you to make your policies very clear to new and interested artists. It may be simple for you to take this much money from someone, but that was a lot of money for me and I could have spent it at a more gracious pottery studio. Please consider your actions towards the community...
Read moreI took several wheel throwing & hand building pottery classes here taught by Emily and they were soo much fun! It was also nice seeing other people in the class who had a variety of experience with clay, some people were more advanced, intermediate, or complete beginner. We all took inspiration from each other and gave each other tips on how to do certain things. It was such a welcoming...
