8/16 - Update - So I don't know if there is a new manager or what has occurred but I recently visited the store for some odds and ends and was pleasantly surprised. The store is cleaner. Veggies and fruit looked great. Things are better organized including the freezer section where like kind products are displayed together. The meat section could still use some work but change can take some time. I ended up buying more than I intended. Prices may be a LITTLE higher than competitors but quality produce is worth it imho as well as the convenience of the store compared to others. I'm glad to see the change and I'll be back.
So I split my grocery shopping between Sav A Lot and Walmart largely because I don't like to deal with the Walmart crowds. My grocery buying is pretty repetitive and even at Walmart I normally buy the house brands. What I have been doing is comparing prices between the 2 stores, pricing out my receipt. I find that my total grocery bill at Sav a Lot is about 20%+ higher than Walmart. Even items on special (say 10 for $10) are more expensive per unit. So I guess if you're a Publix shopper you'll likely Sav A Lot but not the case for me. The store (Eustis) is generally clean. I normally see someone in the meat department and they are helpful. The shelves are stocked and I have never seen it crowded. Bagging my own is no big deal. So in the future I'll use the store when I need a couple items. The extra 20% is just a bit much for me when it comes to my regular shopping. Update: I don't get it with this store. So many times I look at the weekly ad specifically for this store and they do not have the item. It's not they've run out, they are just not running a sale on the item indicated in the weekly ad. Additionally, other than the meat department they don't mark sale items on the shelves so you have to guess if the item is really on sale. I don't want to see less competition in the area and certainly don't want to see people lose their jobs but this store is on a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will never be patronizing their establishment ever again. I have noticed a decline overall in customer service as a whole but this incident was very uncalled for. While in the check out line we were unloading our groceries I politely asked the cashier if she had started ringing up our order yet. (The man standing behind us had 2 items and I was going to let him go ahead in line because we had a great deal of groceries.) She was short and answered me curtly. 'I had to go get a cart!" When I said to her she did not need to answer me with attitude she said "I don't have an attitude, it's just the fact! Immediately I asked for her manager and she was nice enough to call him to the front. When he arrived he stood there rubbing her back as if to console her and sarcastically told me I will talk to her later about it and walked away while I was still trying to have a conversation with him regarding the issue. I asked the manager to remove her as she was smirking and rolling her eyes at us, and he just walked away. She just smirked and chuckled at the situation. I will remain a faithful shopper at Publix where shopping is a pleasure and nothing like this would ever be tolerated there. You might pay a little more but you don't have to buy your grocery bags, they will take your groceries to your car with a smile. Moreover, it puts more people to work that need jobs and there is a extremely high level of customer service there. lesson learned, "You get what you pay for", and you also get what you don't pay for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYou do not save a lot at Save a lot. I thought Iād try to save some money as compared to Walmart so I went shopping at save a lot. Didnāt buy anything after looking at the prices seeing they were charging more than Walmart. I pulled up the Walmart app and looked. Every single item at Save A lot was from 11 cents up to a dollar more . I was always told the reason they donāt give bags for free at Save a lot was to keep cost lower than everyone else. They arenāt lower. Theyāre higher. Hunts spaghetti sauce was 25 cents higher. 30 Oz Kurtz mayonnaise was 39 cents higher than 30oz Great value Mayo. Heinz 57 was 11 cents higher than Walmart. Thatās just a few items Iāve listed but every item was more expensive and you have to either bring a bag or box or buy one...
