Great for all ages! I took my kids here on a Thursday morning. There weren't many others here. The receptionist was friendly, as were the other employees we encountered. We spent about 2 hours here but easily could have spent more, and we are already planning another visit soon. One thing I found really great was the Snuggle Station on the 2nd floor. It was a peaceful little room with a couple of comfortable chairs, dimmed lights, a changing table, outlets for pumps or chargers, and some cute board books. This room would be great for parents to feed or change a baby. There is a door that can be closed for additional privacy. There was another area, I think it was on the second floor as well? that is set up really well for younger kids as well. It was a small room with a couple of cozy recliners and the softest lighting I've ever seen. There were more books and soft things perfect for crawlers to climb on. That room was connected to a bigger room that would be perfect for toddlers. Everything in this room was soothing and perfect sized for small guests. Lots of tactile things in that room as well. Many of the rooms have "yuck bins" for any toys that may have been put in someone's mouth or come into contact with something germy. The staff routinely walks through and straightens things up and checks the yuck bins. The kids I brought with me were 15, 13, and 5. All 3 of them had a great time and are excited to come back. My 13 year old really enjoyed the pretend bank and pretend restaurants. My oldest son spent a lot of time learning and playing in the house building exhibit, the digital table, and the dinosaur building. My youngest was just super impressed with everything, but the construction zone and the fitness/wellness room were his favorite. We all really liked the musical stairs and the pin wall. The third floor has an art room with sooo many art supplies. The kids spent a lot of time in that room painting and using modeling clay. It's unclear on where to park because most of the parking lots nearby are labeled as private parking. We parked a couple of blocks down and walked there. The outside of the building has fun musical pieces to interact with. There is an area on the first floor for stroller parking. There is an area on the first floor with lockers, I believe they were only 25 cents to rent a locker. There are two elevators but one was out of service when we visited. If you have a SNAP card, tell the front desk that you'd like to use the Museums for All program. They need to see your SNAP card and your ID, and you can get in for only $5 per person. I recommend googling the program or calling in advance if you have any questions...
Read moreThis place has great potential, but unfortunately, it falls short on many parts of the experience.
The first thing is parking, it took us forever to find a place to park on the street since it appears there is no parking lot as the parking lot behind the building is for a lawyers office. We had to circle around multiple times until finding a spot close enough to knock to have to walk blocks away with a child.
We visited today, on a Sunday, temps outside are around 65-70, and inside the temperature was miserably warm and humid. It was so HOT.
This is an ongoing issue here. Look at other reviews from 1-3 years ago, all mentioning the heat, and it has never been addressed.
They had one small tower fan on the first floor, and that was all. I am not sure what is wrong with their AC, but my son was drenched in sweat by the time we left, and just sitting there myself, my t shirt was soaked when we left.
A good part of the place has missing toys and is under construction.
We came with some friends as well, and for some reason, our 20 month old, we had to pay $15 for, the lady at the desk never asked how old he was, but asked our friends how old their son was and they said 20 months and she said "oh so 18 months" and then gave them free admission for him while we paid for our sons.
It was kind of strange to me that we had to pay $45, yet our friends got in for $30.
Each floor had something under construction or broken exhibits. We ended up getting about 2 hours before we had to leave and get ice cream to cool off because it was so hot in there and no air movement.
The exhibits that are functional, however, are fun and interactive for children. There are things to like about the place it just can get crowded due to missing exhibits, causing more congestion on the few exhibits that are...
Read moreClearly should have done more research. Visiting from out of town and I had expectations similar to wonderlab in Bloomington, Indianapolis children's museum type thing. HUGE FAIL they were having an event today hosted by local hospital. Reasonably good info but not geared toward my 4 year old. Moved up to second level. Bathrooms not clean, there were 3 employees sweeping the stuff from the area where u learn about sun protection. The place was trashed , literally struggling just everywhere. No employees helping to show kids how to use anything, no one greeting parents, kids just running wild. Move to 3rd floor , go into art area . 3d printers down but 3 employees playing with them. No one talking to kids. There an area in the back where u can build a computer? Screw drivers bent , 1 not even secured to desk- I later witnessed 1 kid stab another kid with said screwdriver, while an adult watched and shrugged it off saying the kid had autism. There's a sewing area, but it's all in boxes and put up on shelves, so I'm assuming not in use. Move to painting room. Kids painting with no supervision, doing whatever. Never saw crayons or markers or even blank paper for my kid to use. - no employees to be found .... Cleaners ( unlabeled ) with reach of anyone. Child running around from private party eating an entire slice of pizza , even though there are signs that say no food / drink. Thus putting my allergy kiddo at risk. But again no employees or adults fixing this situation. Move Into - " town area" multiple things broken unusable. It was so hot it was absolutely miserable. Super glad it was free entry day because that entire place is one huge disappointment. U want a good children's place drive to wonderlab In bloomington,, where the employees are present and interact with kids and parents...
