We asked multiple representatives at the store what the return policy is on the items my partner and I purchased. Staff was not knowledgeable of the policy. When we found someone who could give us an answer at all, we were told something entirely different than what is on the receipt and website. This makes us nervous that if we actually need or want to return something that the actual policy will not be honored and it would entirely depend on which employee we ended up with. Also, when my partner and I were checking out, the person next to us was returning an item because it was missing a part. We ended up also missing a part and had to exchange it. I mentioned "what are the odds" during the exchange and one of the employees tries to dismiss my return by saying our issue was a manufacturer error while the other was theft. They honored the exchange because a part was indeed missing. Either way, it didn't make me feel better shopping there knowing they may not honor their return policy and the likelihood of something being missing or defective or tampered with seems to be unusually high. It is a real shame because we would much prefer to shop loca especially when individual items can cost hundreds to thousands of dollars, but will likely resort to ordering on Amazon from now on knowing returns are straightforward and guaranteed. It's just not worth the risk being stuck with something that doesn't work after spending hundreds to thousands of dollars.
I forgot to mention, one of the associates who helped us was interrupted by another customer asking for help. Instead of telling the other customer he would come over once he was done helping us, he's STOPPED HELPING US to go help the other customer and forced us to wait while he showed the other customer several knives from the display case. Why was the other customer's business more important than ours? Honestly, that's when we should have known there was something wrong with the store and walked out. Staff is not trained and completely lack customer service skills despite appearing to be middle aged (and thus should...
Read moreThis is just a heads up to anyone looking to purchase anything from this store online. I've had nothing but a pleasant experience shopping in store (the ladies working the front have always been very friendly and helpful) but there is something horribly wrong with their online store.
If something is listed as "in-store pick up today," I would recommend physically going to the store and buying in person as there's a good chance this is not true. If it says something along the lines of "available to ship to store," this also is not true.
I had ordered two kayaks online from this store, one of which was available to ship-to-store and one of which was available for in-store pick up the day of. After placing my order, five days later I received the email notification that my in-store kayak was out-of-stock and cancelled my order. After seven days I received the same email for the kayak I ordered to ship to the store. For both of these orders I also received an email a couple of days prior to them being cancelled that the orders were "delayed." Rest assured in knowing that if Sportsman's marks your order as delayed it will likely be cancelled (this seems to be very common for people ordering firearms as well).
But no need to worry, I did receive the paddles and life jackets that I had ordered for the kayaks I never received. Went to REI instead and purchased our kayaks from there (folks here are also extremely nice and helpful). Oh, and if you're curious, both of these kayaks are listed as in-stock online again; after a quick visit to the store in person before heading to REI I confirmed that they were in fact not...

I was at the gun counter today, there were no other customers there. The guy behind the counter- 'Dallas' supposedly the gun counter manager, just completely ignored my wife & I while he was browsing the internet or something.. he finally looked up & apologized & asked what he could help us with. I told him that I had heard they got a large shipment of powder in & needed to see what they had for the myriad of calibers I reload. He immediately started to become hostile & refused to show me or even tell me anything. I told him there are so many different ones I could use & that I need to see the numbers to know if they even have what I needed. He just kept getting angry with me. He even admitted that he knew nothing about reloading & that I was 'talking to the wrong person' - the gun counter MANAGER doesn't know what he's talking about- he admitted it himself, yet he refused to listen to me & defer to my knowledge, he only refused to help me & insisted on yelling at me & berating me. I attempted talking to another associate, but immediately this 'Dallas' manager guy comes over & interrupts the conversation & continues yelling at me.. would not listen to anything I was trying to ask him. I turned & walked away, went to the store manager, who seemed pretty useless in standing up for a loyal customer.. but at least was nice. I am no longer a lotal customer here, there are many other places around that still respect the customers that keep them...
