Service was friendly and prompt. I ordered the bento box C. $25 up from $23. In addition, I ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms. The Bento box had 3 slender tempura shrimp which were coated with a nice light and crispy batter. The chicken teriyaki, about 2-3 ozs, was ok; a little too cold for digging in only 5 minutes after receiving my order. The flavor borderline good but lacked intensity and was superficially coating the bland chicken. The sashimi consisted of 6 small bite sized tuna with rice wrapped in nori and we're decent. Three of the sashimi were on rice. One each of salmon, tuna, and, a white fish I couldn't tell from what. In addition, three 2"x2"X¼" slices of the same variety were included. Of all the fish, the tuna was most palatable and tasted freshest. The other fish were pasty and not very appetizing. A small garden salad with dry wilted greens accompanied the box with a teaspoon of wasabi and a little less of pickled ginger completed the box. The crab stuffed mushrooms were just terrible, a small amount of shredded imitation surimi crab mixed with some sort of crispy noodles was placed on top of completely raw mushrooms, not in any way stuffed. Overall, the place is small but looks clean and has attentive service. They lack transparency of ingredients, quality of food execution, and it could be a hit or miss...
Read morewas there on April 1st. the food was just ok but our experience wasn’t a good one. a middle aged man whom we believe is the boss went to the table next to us questioning the family of 4 (a couple with 2 young kids) that “if you do not like the food, there is nothing I can do !” the guy at the table was trying to explain that he didn’t expect a refund, they just couldn’t get use the the food they order hence returning the dish. the boss walked off a angrily. a poor young waitress went back a few time to apologise on behalf of her boss. then came our turn, we were all catching up with our messages and email while waiting, the same guy appeared next to my daughter with the food she ordered. my gal didn’t react within the second he appeared and he shouted at my daughter “pay attention !” as he needs my gal to keep clear of the table for the food he is serving. my gal was in shock and almost cried. No apology and he still put on a righteous face throughout. It may be a bad day for the boss but his bad attitude is definitely uncalled for ! i wish his good luck for his business but I am sure he will not have my...
Read moreAs a new school teacher, my income is limited, with most of it going towards bills. To make ends meet, I take on extra contracts whenever possible but I still struggle to keep my nose above the water. Because of this, I rarely dine out. I hadn't had a Valentine's Day date in nearly a decade though so I decided to treat myself. However, when the bill arrived after my date and I ordered sushi and tea, I could only afford to tip $5. While I understand it wasn't much, it was all I could manage. Having worked jobs where tips were crucial, I empathize with the tipping struggle but those jobs taught me to believe that most people tip what they can. Since then I have always tipped this way as well. I was embarrassed and taken aback when the waitress (who we believe was the owner) came back to our table and insisted on a higher tip saying that 15-20% is what it should be.. I did not even have words at this point, I was so embarrassed, I couldn’t even look at my date, I just paid the requested amount feeling ashamed and left as soon as I could… I will not be...
