Stayed here from Aug 16-Aug 29, 2021. There are several things I do like about this hotel: comfortable beds and pillows, breakfast in the morning was always fresh, the pool and hot tub, and that the hotel allowed pets…
However one main issue really stood out during our stay that overshadowed our entire experience. Upon checking in, no one told us that housekeeping was on a request only basis. So several days passed and I kept having to flag down a housekeeper in the hall to get fresh towels, toilet paper, trash bags, and to pass our trash off. No one ever, at any time, asked me if we needed anything. I asked a male hotel employee in the hallway who was assisting the housekeepers on our 5th day if anyone was going to clean our room and he looked at me like he didn’t know what I was talking about. I stopped by the hotel desk and inquired about housekeeping and was told we needed to request services. So I put in a request. The next day, no one still cleaned our room. The following day I again went downstairs to ask about housekeeping and was told It was by request only. Once again I put in a request and was told that we would be added to the roster. The following day- our room was once again not cleaned. The next day I stopped a housekeeper in the hall and inquired if our room was on their roster- and surprise surprise, it wasn’t. So at this point I’m pretty upset. No one has so much as knocked and asked if we needed any towels or toiletries yet every single day I’m seeing rooms being cleaned presumably from one night stays- so why is it that one night stays get more attention than someone paying almost $3500 for their stay. I visited the front desk and this time I was upset but politely told the front desk lady the situation and what had happened and she did take our room number down and immediately walked it to a housekeeper after asking a time that would be convenient for us to have our room cleaned to which we said we were leaving then and would be back in a few hours. Our room was cleaned upon our return. It was never again cleaned the rest of our stay.
I was very disappointed in this aspect of our stay and it definitely cast a shadow over the good qualities of this hotel. I shouldn’t have to chase down service like that. In 14 days and 13 nights our room was cleaned one time and by “cleaned” I could tell it was quickly cleaned and not given thorough attention because I picked up a piece of trash under the desk and noticed around the beds had not been swept. The issue also should never be becAuse we have dogs in the room preventing housekeeping from entering because anytime we left the room they went into a pop-up kennel so they were not loose in the room. More than once I also had to ask the staff for pool towels also.
In terms of staff- I will say everyone was very polite and friendly that we interacted with. The temperature in the room was nice- we could adjust it ourselves and there was AC. The location is convenient to shopping and...
Read moreDespite booking over the phone over 2 months in advance to ensure we got 2 connecting rooms for my spouse and my young kids, when we checked in we were told by the front desk that the night manager must not have looked through the requests when assigning the rooms, so our two rooms were a couple of doors down. It was supposed to be a situation where we could keep the connecting room door open so our children could have their own space and we could get rest as well. But with this new situation, my husband and I had to sleep in separate rooms and our kids spread between the two rooms to accommodate, which was a huge inconvenience to our vacation. Having to go back and forth down the hall between luggage bags swiping room keys over and over and everything spread out was frustrating. We had to get our room keys fixed more than once because they stopped working. One of the deciding factors of the hotel we chose to stay at in Fairbanks during the winter was the ability to warm up in a hot tub after outside adventures. We found out only upon checkin that the hot tub was actually removed sometime in 2024 and they just never updated their website to reflect the loss of the hot tub and continued advertising it and then offering nothing in compensation for the crazy amount we paid for a room we expected to have a hot tub to go with. BOTH rooms had the alarm clock go off at 6am, so beware to check yours before you go to bed so it doesn’t happen to you! The two bartenders were both really awesome and helpful and I appreciated that the front desk gave us a small goodie bag of snacks for the inconvenience of our room situation being messed up. The breakfast was above average for a complimentary one, but really lacking on gluten free/dairy free options. I appreciated the fresh cut fruit but it was limited each day and would go quickly. The hotel is in a great location, and in walkable distance to Good Titrations cafe and other fast food/box stores despite Fairbanks not really having a walkable infrastructure. Hot water was inconsistent at best. Both rooms and the room of a friend who traveled with us had issues with not having hot water, or the hot water shutting off abruptly a couple of minutes into the shower. I also wish the rooms had microwaves - it was kinda annoying going down to the lobby and using the tiny gross microwave they have out. The pool also wasn’t very clean. Beds were comfortable enough, and the couches in the room were big. This is the only hotel I’ve ever come across that doesn’t offer coffee/tea/water in the lobby...

Check in was not great. Did an online check-in and selected 1pm to check in, if possible. Was under no assumption that we would get an early check in. Received an email from the hotel at 12:35pm that our room was ready and to come check in. Got to the hotel a little after 1pm and inquired about early check in. Was dismissed by a person named Bonnie. I showed her the email from the hotel letting us know the room was ready, was again dismissed, told that the email was wrong and to come back in an hour. I didn't mind not being able to check in early, however, I did not enjoy the way I was talked down to and dismissed like I was in the wrong. All other staff were friendly and engaged. Bonnie not so much.
Room: stayed in a 2nd floor room and the room smelled like smoked salmon the entire stay. left the windows open to air it out, but had this aroma the entire stay. Next, thin walls and noise. There was a clear gap around the door which allows lots of hallway noise and we could hear every step of the people staying above us, I imagine every floor is like that.
Breakfast: breakfast was good in terms of a hot breakfast, although each day it was a choice of some type of potato, scrambled eggs, sausage (every day just a different shape), and a pancake or french toast. Decent enough.
Amenitites: Last issue, the pictures of the hotel show a hot tub in the pool area. We stayed March 2024 and there is NO HOT TUB in the pool area. Pics are either outdated or the pool area was renovated to not include the hot tub. Not a big deal if we had known up front, but disappointing to find out when we go there. There is a small gym with cardio equipment and dumbells can get a good sweat.
Overall, rooms and location are great for fairbanks, service and amenities were sub-par. I'd stay across the street instead of this place. ...
