The Grand Bazaar on Anderson Avenue is one of those rare food markets that actually makes you look forward to grocery shopping. It feels like a combination of international market, specialty store, and neighborhood grocery all rolled into one.
First of all, the variety is out of control. They have an amazing selection of Mediterranean and Turkish staples. You’ll find olives, yogurts, bulgur, teas, spices, and plenty more. But what really impressed me was the huge selection of Asian specialties. The shelves are stocked with Korean condiments, Japanese snacks, noodles from all over Asia, Thai sauces, and Chinese pantry essentials. It honestly feels like you could cook dishes from half the globe just based on what they carry.
Now let's talk seafood. They’re not messing around. I saw live blue crabs, whole fish, clams, head-on shrimp, and even cuttlefish. The seafood looked fresh and well maintained. If you enjoy cooking fish or shellfish at home, this place is a goldmine.
They also have a cold aged beef section that completely caught me off guard. This is the kind of meat you expect from a high end butcher, not a supermarket. The cuts were beautifully marbled and clearly well cared for. If you like a proper steak, this alone is worth the visit.
The produce is always fresh and well stocked. Everything from herbs and chilies to greens and fruit looked like it had just arrived. Nothing wilted, nothing bruised. Just solid quality.
They also have a good deli and bakery section. Fresh bread, pastries, hot food, and some excellent baklava. The store is clean, the layout is easy to navigate, and the staff are helpful without being pushy. The overall vibe is relaxed and friendly.
Now here's one thing to watch out for. I once bought a container of milk without checking the date. Turned out it was expired. Totally my fault, but now I always check the date on dairy products before putting them in my cart. Just something to keep in mind.
In short, this place is excellent. Whether you're shopping for the week or just hunting for rare ingredients, Grand Bazaar is worth visiting. They clearly care about food and it shows in every section...

Read moreI’ve been shopping at Food Bazaar in Cliffside Park for a while now, but I’ve had enough.
Last year, I bought salmon from this store and ended up with severe food poisoning the next day. I had to leave work early due to nausea and vomited multiple times in an Uber. The driver even had to pull over multiple times. I said nothing at the time.
A few months ago, we bought cheese from here. The package had a Food Bazaar price sticker clearly on it, but when we opened it at home, it was covered in green mold. We returned to the store with the product, but since we didn’t have the receipt, the manager refused to take it back — even though their own sticker was on it. He didn’t apologize or show any concern whatsoever.
Today was the last straw. I bought beef kidney for my dog’s food, and within 5 minutes of getting home and opening the package, the smell was unbearable — completely rotten. Thankfully, I still had my receipt.
I returned to the store and was once again met by the same manager, who has been unhelpful every single time. His customer service skills are nonexistent — cold, robotic behavior, zero communication, no empathy, no apology. For someone in charge of returns and customer interaction, this is unacceptable.
I strongly believe this manager should be replaced. He lacks basic customer relations skills and has made each experience unnecessarily frustrating.
This was Food Bazaar’s last chance for me. If I ever purchase spoiled meat or dairy here again, I will not hesitate to report the issue directly to the USDA.
