I have lived in Fallon for several years and I will promise that this place will not disappoint. Churchill county is part of the high desert of western Nevada. Sure it is lush and green now but it was not always so. Pioneers of bygone years have spent their lives working, living, loving and dying to make it so. That vast expanse of sand and sage that you have just easily sped through in your air conditioned auto to get here took them months to traverse in wagons, on horseback, or walking. Their story is one of hardships and perseverance. Yet it is rich in warmth and sacrifice. Stop in and visit with them for a short while. Learn about your own history from their story. Chances are you're ancestry is somewhere out there in that sage and sand too. The price is only a small gratuity and a little time, but the joy and new found knowledge far exceeds the expense. Every aspect of the area has been included; the Naval Air Station Fallon, geology, mining, the nearby water sources and dams, and of course, Churchill County history. My fiance and I are getting married in a month and are having our reception there because we loved it so much. There's a lot more to Fallon's history than you might think.
