In town visiting a friend that is stationed here. She is a single mom that has a 2 yo. Said that I had to try this place because the food is absolutely wonderful. Well, went in there tonight right at the time they opened. Was greeted with a not so friendly woman at the entrance. We were seated and then my friend left to take her daughter to the bathroom to wash her hands. The waitress took our drink orders asked us about appetizers. We received our drinks and waited for our salads. She brought out bread and placed that. Salads came and by this time drinks were empty and she never asked to refill. Now at this time someone was seated next to us, I seen the waitress asked them if they would like oil or dipping sauce for their bread... this was never offered to us. She then came to refill their drinks, but not ours. Then our food came, still no refills. I see the waitress bring the food to the table next to us and apparently the boy at that table received the wrong food and the mom is saying don't touch it since it isn't the right thing. The waitress brings back more food to them, 4 people at this table, and realizes the mistake takes his plate hands him the right one then takes the wrong plate over to the table it should have went to and hands it to the guy at said table... OH NO!!!! That is so wrong. This little boy had had his face in that plate sniffing it and this waitress had taken the food over to another man!!! I have never in my life seen such a thing happen. We have now finished our meal and I have seen the table next to me get a total of 3 refills and we have had none. So, I am not sure if they do not like small children, believe we were a gay couple and do not like that, or what their issue was... BUT the quality of the food ROCKED and that was outweighed by the HORRIBLE service and seeing a plate being placed at the wrong table then taken to another. I would never recommend it to someone and would never go back. I will be back to Fallon since my friend is stationed here for another 2 1/2 yrs so they...
Read moreThis is an update to my original review. I've been going to the slanted porch since my first tour of duty at NAS Fallon in 2014. Their food has always been good, but the constant nickel and dime-ing is too much.
Our crew decided to do our lunch run to Slanted Porch. We know it's a little pricey but were wanting to treat ourselves. We had 8 orders that we called in to the restaurant 30 minutes before they even opened. We didn't want to slam them by just showing up. We were told it would be ready at 11:20 for pickup.
Our order wasn't ready at 11:20 like said but the food was "decent". The real kicker was the fact that they charged us 18% gratuity for a "large party". I've seen these tips when dining in a restaurant to ensure the server gets compensated appropriately, but on a TO-GO order is ridiculous. There was no server interaction with the ONE guy picking up the food other than to tell them he was there, yet we had to pay an extra $28.50! On top of that, each order had a $0.75 "to-go box fee". After their additional fees, our order came out to nearly $35 extra. We're already spending $20 per sandwich due to high prices and an extra $2.50 for french fries, but then and additional $4.50 per person for gratuity to the server... for what?
This is probably the last time we'll be doing a lunch run to Slanted Porch.
Previous Review: I've only had lunch here but it is great! High quality ingredients and the servers do a good job. A little pricey...
Read moreWe stopped here on a Friday for lunch. We opted to sit outside and enjoy the weather.
Service: There did not seem to be a dedicated wait staff for each outdoor table. Multiple people came to take drink and food orders, refresh water, etc. When food was delivered, we watched it get delivered to the wrong table 3x. We saw the people next to us wait a while for their drinks to be taken. It was busy at this time of course. Staff would open the door and look out to check but not actually come to the tables.
Costs: There are upcosts for side dishes and sauces, which I didn't realize. Make sure to ask. $64 for lunch is a little out of our usual lunch budget. And tip choices are all set high, which we noticed consistently in the area.
Food: We ordered the Kinkade and Christo. The Kinkade was thin on ingredients, great taste. The Christo bread was deep fried, which was not noted on the menu. The sandwich tasted great but I will request regular bread next time.
We met some nice people on the porch from Auto...
