I enjoyed the walking tour of Woods Hole offered by the historical society. Yesterday, my mother and I attended the afternoon tour. Susan was a top notch guide. She was tremendously considerate. She began by asking us what we'd like to get out of the tour and how long we'd like to dedicate to the tour. She explained that the tour could range from 60-90 min and she'd be happy to tailor it to our time constraints. She then started out on a thoroughly researched tour, which ranged from knowledge of where the rocks in the library came from (the ice age) up till the modern features of the town, including the relationship between MBL and University of Chicago just a few years ago. The tour truly covered all range of historical eras. We found it the just right amount of detail. And, the tour moved at a great pace, not too fast, not too slow, just perfect to allow us to ask questions while continuing to learn new things ever step. Susan was so incredibly knowledgeable and kind. It's clear that she takes pride in the town and her work with the Historical Society. Diorama is interesting, but takes up too much space for what little history it relates. The Docent was nice and very chatty. Boat shop is open but no one is around for explanations.
