Food was good (nothing special) but overpriced. The server was very bubbly and nice (a little overly so), as if to make up for something, and was very apologetic when something didn't go as planned. The artichoke dip appetizer was fine but we needed her to bring more chips. The harvest salad required a sub for the arugala and we chose kale but it came as pretty much just a big bowl of kale. The $12 shrimp add on was 5 pieces for $12. The server told us, as she served the salad, that our shrimp were too cold and she put in the order again, and we had to wait. For 5 $12 shrimp. The fish and chips and shrimp platter were $26 and $28. The fish came in two small thick chunks. They were cooked well enough. The fried shrimp were large and hot and juicy but I think there were only 7. Both meals were overpriced. The fries were good at least. Our party of 6 had 3 kids and the kids meals were $9 (hot dog, chicken, Mac and cheese, and something else) so we opted to order those 2 adult entrees for 3 kids and their mom to share. We checked before ordering about the portion sizes and we're assured the portions were huge, as one might expect with a $26 or $28 seafood platter. But they were average at best. I would have expected to pay $15 to $17 for the portions and quantity. We sat in a corner by the wood stove overlooking the water but 4 out of the 6 of us, at a small round table, had to sit on benches with our backs to the water. The other 2 guests in our party had to sit on stools. We probably won't be back. Which is unfortunate, as it had good atmosphere and a...
Read moreCape Cod is such a beautiful place to visit, you want to enjoy the view wherever you can. One of those spot is called Captain Kidd, and is a quite nice size.
The inside is large, with nice high ceiling and lots and lots of seating. The interior is heavy with woods, with big wooden fish swilling around near the ceiling. It has sort of fishing cabin feeling to it.
But the best seats in the house is actually outside the house…their waterfront outdoor seating! This area is not as large as the inside, but it certainly comes with a beautiful view of the water, boats, and yes, nice breathe!
We a few drinks, including Village Sangria, Harvard Cup, and Frozen Blackberry Margarita. The sangria didn't have any cut up pieces of fruits in it, which was a bit disappointing. But, the flavor itself on all the drinks were good.
For food, we ordered two appetizers to share, Crispy Salt & Pepper Calamari and Crunchy Onion Rings. They were both good, addicting and disappeared quick, especially the calamari.
For main, we ordered Fried Clam Plate, Simple Salad with Lobster Salad, Cape Cod Shore Dinner, Signature Lobster Roll, and Fisherman’s Platter.
The food was all very tasty, drinks were good, although not excellent. The price point is a bit high on seafood dishes, but that is common in most restaurants, especially if they are offering something really fresh. So, I would say the price was worth the quality of the food we received. The portion of the food was quite good too.
The service was friendly, warm and attentive. The server took a...
Read moreAlthough the shrimp & scallops in the combo were quite good, the clams & fish were not. We were taken to a regular table that was next to high top tables. The high top chairs were pushed immediately up against half of our table, to the point the chairs wouldn't have been able to be pulled out. We requested another one in a less crowded section. We were not told that there were no servers in that section & didn't know as it was part of the same room. After being served, no one came to us. The servers who walked by wouldn't even look in our direction so we could wave them down. We needed more to drink, but we were S.O.L. After finishing our food and waiting for approximately 25 minutes, I put the stopwatch from my phone on. After an additional 13 more minutes somebody finally came by and asked if we needed anything. We had pushed our plates well away from us & let our body language i.e. chin on our palms, do the talking, but to no avail. After letting them know how long we had waited, they actually got quite rude. The bartender, who unbeknownst to us, was the server for that section. When we had mentioned how long we waited, his only words were " well I've been busy & if you had sat where you were seated in the first place this wouldn't happen and you would've had a server. I said we hadn't been told no one served that area. He just walked away. We met a couple on the ferry who said they also had terrible...
