I’m so happy to have found Nayoung and Jin at Salon D! I’ve been having my hair thermally straightened for over a decade and going to the same person the entire time. I really dreaded going to that other salon for a multitude of reasons, so I started looking for someone new and was impressed by Nayoung’s reviews. I had Nayoung and Jin straighten my hair yesterday and I’m so pleased!!!! I’m much happier with with results and price structure and their personalities. They actually tell you up front what it will cost after they look at your hair. My old person couldn’t give estimates and simply charged by the hour. It made it extraordinarily frustrating when she’d play on her phone and there was so much downtime that it always took my old person 4 hours or more to straighten my hair. Nayoung and Jin did a better job and it only took 2.5 hours because they worked diligently and weren’t trying to burn the clock. I couldn’t believe how little downtime there actually was — I also couldn’t believe one step only needed to take 7 minutes instead of the 30-40 minutes it had always taken with my old person. Nayoung and Jin charged almost exactly what I paid my old person, but the experience was much more enjoyable and the results are superior and my time was never wasted. I saved 1.5 hours! Also, there was no frustration with a surprise price tag at the end because Nayoung and Jin told me up front exactly what it would cost! With my old person, the bottom layer of my hair was always frizzy by bedtime on the first night and I’d have to flatiron it before bed and when I woke each day. No big deal, BUT that didn’t happen with Nayoung and Jin. They have a slightly different technique at one stage of the process and it made all the difference. Also, at the old place the person usually commented on my weight and said other unflattering things and by the time I left, my self esteem felt low and I dreaded going back. That didn’t happen with Nayoung and Jin. Nayoung and Jin were fun and easy to visit with during the 2.5 hour process. I looked and felt great when I left. For years, I have dreaded going to the salon for a long, drawn out, and exhausting experience, BUT NOW I cannot wait to go back to see Nayoung and Jin. They’re amazing, I look great, and it was money well-spent!!!! I HIGHLY recommend...

I don’t think it’s for me but I am very impressed by how they go above and beyond it seems for their customers. People should still try this salon and form their own opinions!
I visited Nayoung in late July for a highlight touch up and a haircut. They proceeded to charge me $280 (not including tip) for a toner, root touch up, and a haircut. I didn't realize it was just a toner, I thought I would be getting highlights, but they just gave me a toner. I wasn't able to challenge the price because I didn't realize what was happening until later. Communication issue. But the price was not the biggest problem of the experience. I've never heard of anyone charging that much for a toner and a haircut. At my luxury salon that I frequent, they charge ~$150, not including tip, for both services combined.
I told them "long layers, please don't cut off too much hair." They used a RAZOR and proceeded to give me what I later learned is called a 'shelf.' I didn't notice at first, and actually quite liked my hair, because they curled my hair before I left. But, as the weeks drew on, I could feel how my hair had no density and there were so many uneven pieces. I have very thick, voluminous hair naturally.
I recently went to get my hair corrected at my original salon, and they told me whoever cut my hair "severely messed up" and we had to cut off four inches of growth to restore it somewhat to its original feeling. I will not be returning to Nayoung. I know this salon has a lot of good reviews, but I really wanted to make sure my experience was heard, because this was a terrible thing to deal with! I was disappointed because I had high hopes for it. Just be aware, and make sure you communicate properly with your stylist. They were very kind but I was so sad about how it turned out in the long run. Don't let them use a razor on...
Read moreUPDATE: The terrible customer service continues and not to mention she is asking me to delete my review and calling me at 10:00 pm. Nayoung, I highly recommend you allow someone to translate for you or help you communicate with potential customers, this is not an insult but rather feedback for improving your business. Also, I never requested a perm + my hair is not damaged (my profile photo depicts healthy BLONDE hair recently done by another salon) - if you don't specialize in blonde hair, just say that- it's ok to not know or specialize in everything. Attached are receipts of our conversation and photo of my hair with the nice haircut Jennie gave me. Future clients, again, think twice before consulting with this business. Vibe is negative! Photos added for context and to show that my hair was not damaged.
Original Review: New to the area, I was referred to Nayoung after checking out her IG page, though I later found out she primarily specializes in men's perms and has her other stylists mostly doing the work/color/cuts. I scheduled a consultation with Nayoung specifically to discuss getting my hair back to blonde, and to my surprise, she told me it would take FIVE years???!!! As someone who's been dyeing my hair blonde for over 8 years, I found this timeline baffling. Whether it was a miscommunication or a language barrier, the interaction left me feeling dismissed. Her tone was condescending, and she even flipped the bottom of my hair and looked to her associate as if to make light of the situation after mentioning the 5 year timeframe.
If you're looking for a perm, this might be the place for you, but don't expect to be treated with respect if your request falls outside of her specialty. There are plenty of other salons in town where you can achieve your desired look without the condescending attitude. Unfortunately, it's a hard pass for me. On a positive note, Jennie did a fantastic job with my cut—I wish I could give...
