I have stayed at this hotel, on occasion, for years. The location was good for me - close to Addison airport, reasonably priced and the front desk employees were always pleasant, friendly and helpful.
I decided to stay yesterday and most of those reasons changed.
The location remained the same but the price went up and the front desk employees were anything but pleasant.
I suspect the hotel changed hands. It has been repainted and fake grass was installed around the pool. Something happened to the TVs - they are tiny. Also, the common/breakfast area looks as if there was an attempt to update except for the cheap plastic flowers on every table. I had to ask if they were staging a wedding rehearsal or wedding party where cheap was the theme. ( I didn't mention the theme)
When I checked in I was told a $100 deposit would be required. I had never been asked for a deposit before - but okay. I was told either $100 cash, which will be returned upon checkout, or $100 on my credit card which will take 7 days to refund.
I had cash, so I gave the guy $100.
After showering, I discovered the hair dryer didn't work and they did not have portable dryers. So, wet hair for dinner. The room was marginally clean except for the light switches - which were so gross you could not touch.
This morning after breakfast, I checked out. Front desk asked if I would like a receipt and I said no - but I'd like my deposit returned. Remember, the deposit? He locked up the front while he went to verify I had not trashed my room. I stood waiting for 15 minutes in front of the folks eating breakfast while I guess he verified I had not stolen a towel?
It was actually a tad humiliating. I mean - they have a credit card on file and my DL. I'm a 65 y/o woman, returning customer and in all my travels - I have NEVER had a hotel check to see if I damaged their property before I left. What were they expecting - that I took the tiny TV or was there a pile of beer cans in the corner?
The employees are anything but friendly/pleasant. I'll miss the old hotel. I swim daily so I liked the rooms that opened to the pool.
When I meet my adult children and their families in Dallas next week we will be staying down the street at The Addison Hotel. Nice, clean, inexpensive, the employees are FRIENDLY and the breakfast is amazing!
Unfortunately they were sold out yesterday.
Good bye LaQuinta - I've enjoyed my stays there...
Read moreI only stayed for a night, but for the most part my stay was pleasant enough. Before you even walked in the sliding glass doors to the lobby you are greeted with a VERY STRONG cologne smell. Most of the guests at check-in were complimenting the scent, and while it was a fine scent, it was overwhelming and was only in the lobby itself. Check-in was slow, but the staff was friendly enough, though one of them looked supremely bored and wouldn't take out his airpods when guests talked to him. The elevator access was at the end of a very long corridor, which is whatever, but the elevator itself is SKETCHY AF. As soon as you walk into it, you're greeted with the smell of burning plastic--NOT something you want to smell in an elevator. The floors were super grungy, the inside was scuffed up, there's a small door under the buttons (my guess is for maintenance or emergency use) and it looked like it had been kicked in and was barely held together with tape. There was also no safety certificate anywhere. It was very slow and VERY shaky. I tried to avoid leaving my room just so I didn't have to be in it. The room itself was spacious and looked clean. There didn't appear to be very many amenities in the bathroom, but it was only for a night so I wasn't too worried. Beds were ok, pillows weren't the most comfortable. There was a faint whiff of maybe dog urine near the nightstand? Like a small dog had hiked its leg and it just hadn't been cleaned properly, but I didn't see any stains or anything. Just smelled weird in that one part of the room. The rooms are also NOT soundproof, and as a kid-friendly hotel, get used to kids running and screaming up and down the hallways... all night long. For about 30 minutes there was someone pacing up and down the hall around 10 p.m., playing with keys or something. Then around midnight something crashed somewhere and it woke me up because it shook the room. I have no clue what it was, though originally I suspected the elevator finally collapsed. The hotel also brags about super fast, free wifi. Yes, it was free. But 5.6 mbps is the antithesis of fast. Location was ok. Beltline road is accessible to EVERYTHING and there are a ton of amazing restaurants that you can have delivered...
Read moreI recently worked security at this location for over 2 years but a new security company came in due to Wyndham. But anyways this hotel is hit or miss for me. Golar the GM is a good guy and has a big heart. He mainly stays in the back office and focuses on the business end of the hotel, but if needed he will help with the front desk and customer service. Tammie is the Assistant GM and is great. She does everything! Super friendly and will go the extra mile to make the guest feel comfortable and will try to work with guest in a respectable way. Kree is the Front End Manager. The only good thing about her is she bilingual. I would recommend going to Golar or Tammie for any problems at the hotel. All of the regular front desk workers are very friendly girls. Housekeeping is great! Maintenance there is only two guys in the department. The Head maintenance is Bilingual and does a great job. The second only speaks Spanish so sometimes it’s difficult explaining what needs to get done, but there are multiple Spanish speaking workers that can translate. The hotel Itself is old and need a lot of repairs. The rooms are basic nothing to special. They keep the rooms clean. The west side of the hotel is reserved for pets so there can be a dog odor on that side. The Sweats are basic as well. The Laundry area isn’t the best and the washers always break down. Fitness room is small and only good for cardio. Please and I mean Please if you ever smell weed, hear loud noises, barking dogs, or see anything suspicious PLEASE tell the front desk or management. They will do nothing unless a guest calls and reports about it. In there eyes if it isn’t hurting the hotel or a guest experience they will not worry about it. So please report it. The courtyard and pool area is beautiful! Best part of the hotel. There once was a hot tub but that recently got filled in. Pool is nice. Parking lot is a decent size. They have a small food and item store but they hardly keep it stocked, so I would recommend going to the 7 eleven next door. The Location is great! There are many restaurants near by and very close to the Galleria and tollways. All in all would recommend this hotel if you traveling in the...
