Elliott Bay Sauna & Hot Tub Co — Attraction in Federal Way

I've been going here at least once a month (especially on chilly days) with my husband for almost two years now. This place is a perfect spot for couples or even friends to have a completely private (and soundproof!) room with a huge shower, cedarwood hot tub, a two level sauna room, a twin sized bed AND an xfinity TV with cable. Seriously. All in one room. You can also purchase amazing smelling bath oils and cold drinks at the counter! Some rooms even have sunroofs to let natural light in. We've gotten to know the owner, Jeff, over the years and he's always happy and excited to see us! The rest of his staff is also super friendly and great! Best thing is that they don't rush you out when your allotted time is done; they give you an extra 5-10 minutes to get dressed. Details like that really makes this quality experience here feel consistent. Keep in mind that this place is for quiet relaxation, so your party should be only 2 people or 3 max if you have a child. Always clean, always quiet no matter what is happening behind those doors! Let's not pretend this isn't a private place with a bed and a place to get clean that can be rented for a reasonable hourly rate (wink-wink).

Besides having just basic accomodations and decor/atmosphere which could use some updating, the only c riticism I have is they will not allow pre-booking which is a problem when taking a chance and driving in from a distance. You may not get a spot or may have to wait a while depending on day/time. Have wasted my time on a few occasions because of this (on busy nights) and wish I could pre-pay. I would gladly forfeit my payment if I reserved a spot and didn't show up for it. Online reservations would be excellent, too.

I've been here several times now but recently I was given an unclean room cuz there was a lot of brown stuff (flakes & foam) floating in the water. We didn't go in. The worker that checked it out said it wasn't clean & tried to give us a new room but the person I was with didn't want to stay. They said they were too grossed out & would never be back. I don't believe they received any kind of refund. I haven't heard from them again. I believe it's because I recommended the place. I went the next week & they gave me the same room. Thankfully it was clean this time. I recommend looking in the water upon immediately entering the room & if there's something wrong go straight to the front desk.
